I have a Sport S with the black plastic fenders and have been looking to get Sahara/Rubicon color matched take offs but it's been a tough search. I know I can buy unpainted ones and have a shop do it, but I'd prefer not to spend $1,000+ on something that's purely cosmetic.

Then I had the idea that I could plasti dip my black fenders white while I continue to search for take offs.

I know white plasti dip wouldn't be a 100% color match, and the texture would be different, but I don't think it would be too noticeable unless you're right up close. Plus if it's terrible I can just peel the plasti dip off.

Has anybody done this before?

My experience with plastidip is this:

Take your time, prep well, and lots of layers. The more coats the better. If you don’t put enough coats it’s truly a bitch to remove.

If you’re going down this road maybe tape off a square on your fender and do a test. That’s what I would do to ensure it adheres to that fender good. Just a thought.

Hope this helps.
