Did you remove these?Anyone remove these plastic caps on rear???
I did this today. They were bothering me. It wasn’t bad, but way more screws and bolts then I would have thought. Also there is one diagonal bracket that has to be either cut or the rear bumper needs to come off to get it out. I still have to cut mine later. All in all it took about 15 minutes a side. Not hard.Anyone remove these plastic caps on rear???
Pic of the finished product? Been thinking about doing this and getting the fishbone pinch weld protectors...I have the mopar steel rear bumper and had to remove those plastic filler panels to clear a set of 38x13.5 Milestar Pat's. They are held on by 3 screws per side that require an 8mm socket or wrench. I also removed the stamped steel brackets that they were mounted to, because the brackets weren't adding any real support to the bumper. I believe a 16mm was used for the 4 bolts per side. I then removed the nut clips on the bumper for a cleaner look and reinstalled the chassis side bolts just for the hell of it. Next day, I chopped the rear fenders and abbreviated the liners while I wait for AAL to send new liners to match the front.
I'm not too computer savvy and think i might need some kind of picture editing program on my phone. I was recently making an entry in the garage section, but all but one side shot got rejected due to size restrictions. That one shot was taken the evening right after having the 38's and new wheels mounted. I chopped the rear fender the next afternoon.Pic of the finished product? I took them off. I also removed the stamped steel brace that was under it and spanned to the frame. The metal bracket doesn't add rigidity to the bumper, it just helps support the plastic filler panels.Anybody done this to a stock metal rubicon rear bumper? Looking to take those plastic end caps off
Yes I did the same thing looks sooo much betterI took them off. I also removed the stamped steel brace that was under it and spanned to the frame. The metal bracket doesn't add rigidity to the bumper, it just helps support the plastic filler panels.
Here's a side pic. I also chopped the fenders along with the bumper to fender filler pieces. The first piece to go was the one with the hump that covers the pinch seam, second was the bumper extension, and finally a non structural stamped steel bracket that also attached to the frame.
It looks much better now with the AAL rear fender liners
They are the LOD Destroyers.Pulled up this old thread as I’m going to remove the plastic end caps.
love the rock sliders with the steps. Who makes them?
