The rear plastic plate cover that covers the jack/tire iron (the one that holds the screws for doors/windows/etc) is physically unable to snap in place and is riding loose in there. It seems that the issue isn't with the cover itself but with the plastic mold pieces either side that it snaps into. The piece on left seems to be too high or something and it's causing the cover to not fit and snap in correctly.

Anyone else with this issue?

Trying to determine whether it's a big enough deal for me to take it into the dealer for. Right now, I'm leaning towards not.

I've played with mine a few times and can't get it to snap in either.

Interesting, did you get the premium soft top too? I see we have Rubis, could be either that or perhaps the top option.

No soft top, just the hard top on my Rubi.
On mine it’s like the two outside plastic pieces are too far apart, so there is nothing to put pressure against for the clip to catch.

@Ruby Jack

I just went and eyeballed mine, on my JL. The little metal locking clip/piece on the left side, does engage but very lightlthe plastic pieceit is easily pulled up.... and the metal locking clip easily, easily releases.. lets go.
So, mine does hold it down but does not resist at all if you pry the plastic upwards.

Looks like you could tweak the metal clip to make it grab better but mine is doing aok so will leave alone.

It’s the first thing I noticed when I got mine. How hard is it to make a plastic tab or proper measurements. Chinese companies get this crap right every damn day.

So today is the first time I removed this plate cover, and thought I must somehow break the clip tab, and looking for missing pieces...until I read this post, it seems just a lame design.

Mine was like this from day one. all you have to do to get it secure is slightly pull up the door seal and put the rubber door seal over it instead of under it. It still wont "snap" into place but it will keep it from moving and it actually looks like its supposed to be that way. Let me know if you want me to take a pic of what i mean. kinda hard to explain in words.
