My wife is pressuring me right now to load up and head north for 4 days. The only problem is she has just had foot surgery and she is not to be on her foot for more than 5 minutes per hour, and the weather looks like rain for the next three days. Sitting in the rain in 50 degree weather just does not sound fun.....
We are headed up to the UP tomorrow, we have never camped there so we reserved a camp site at the KOA near St. Ignace. Would be great to meet up if possible. We are planning on hitting Drummond Island first thing Saturday morning but not sure how much we would be able to do as we are bringing the other half's 80th edition.

Last weekend, we arrived at our camp spot in the dark on a muddy trail south of Flagstaff and woke up to an amazing view.

We prefer to sleep in our Jeep using the Deep Sleep air mattress instead of using a roof top tent, so we try to pack minimally. Still working out all the things to bring/not to bring during each camping trip, but we are loving it so far!

Also used our Adventure Skottle from TemboTusk for the first time. Works really well, but could definitely use a wind shield for the windy conditions we had.

I love the Flagstaff area! Every time out we learn something right?

Just got home this afternoon from camping for 5 days up north. If I would have seen this you could have joined us. We were over by Temple, Michigan on the Muskegon River.

We were the only ones that were retired. The other 4 left Sunday morning and we stayed up for an extra day. So we had the camp to ourselves.

We ran the trails Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I have wheeled the area many times over the last 30 years. I did take some GoPro videos and have some dash cam videos. But hey this is a camping thread and those will be on another thread.

No modifications to mount it, however, the SkyKamp 2.0 has a wire latch that’s a bit tricky to latch when mounted to the pioneer platform. I have a tool that helps reach in and slip the cable over the hook. Not a big deal but it sometimes takes me longer to latch it than it does to break the shop thing down.

Can you share link or picture of tool? It sure is tricky sometimes.

This is probably a bit anticlimactic but it actually works pretty well. It's a small, approximately 7" nail puller. It provides just enough reach to loop the cable around the catch.

I was looking for a version with a wooden handle but I couldn't find one at Lowes. If I find one I'll let you know. If I continue to use this one I'll probably find a rubber cap (or 3D print a plastic one for the end I don't use.
