What antenna and radio setup did you go with?

We did our shakedown trip a couple of weeks ago and came home with a decent list of stuff that we needed. Funny, we have been doing this for decades but the new setup threw a few surprises!! Enjoy your trip.

WhT is that little bit of smoke trailing up from your tent?

San Isabel National Forest, near the headwaters of the Purgatoire, up around 10,000 feet. There was frost the night before; a hefty black bear wandered down the road; mulies were all over the place. This was a week ago.

Added a Slumberjack tarp to my setup. Gotta say, I love it. Only downside is I can't drive off without taking it down, but man... having all that shade is sweet!

There was a breeze and it held up well, solid as a rock. How it handles desert gales, on the other hand, is yet to be determined. Ha!

Drove from AL to Maine to Acadia for the week. Stopped on the way up at the Clarksboro NJ KOA for the night. Very nice spot.

at Blackwoods Campground in Acadia for the week. If I ever did this trip again, I think I would stay at one of the private campgrounds and not blackwoods.

On the way back, a short stay at Otter Creek campground on the Blue Ridge Parkway close to Bedford VA. One of the neatest little campgrounds I’ve stayed at. Woke up to so many birds singing!

I just got one that I will test out this weekend along Lake Huron. We have a good chance of rain our first day, so I'm hoping it does well with that too.

It's a stove pipe, got the stove and a fold up backpacking stove. I added a floor mat and welding cloth on the wall
