I have never been able to find a pic of the stock steel wheels with 285 70 17...here is mine if it helps anyone. Just had 285 70 17 Milestar Patagonia MT’s put on, what a difference over stock!

Now that you have had these tires for a while, what are your thoughts - ride quality, performance in rain or snow? What PSI are you running? Thanks in advance.

Here's a picture of my MOAB with Sport S wheels powder coated gloss black with 285/70/17 Patagonia Milestar Mud Terrain tires. The BFG KM2's that came stock were annoyingly LOUD.

Looks awesome, do you have any side pics? I am looking to do this same setup. Did you put the longer LCA’s on to help with the caster?

Yes I added the Mopar LCA and the caster was improved.

Thanks for the reply, a real balanced look with the height. Does it track well with the improved caster?

Pulled the trigger on a set of 285/70r17 C load BFG after much consideration between this size and 285/75. While the size difference from the stock 255/75 on the Willys is minor I was mainly changing tires to get better road manners while maintaining an aggressive look and off-road performance. Wanted to post the results as this thread helped with my decision. The ride is great, much improved over the MT2 I had previously. Can a difference be felt in size/weight? Yes, but it’s not bad, mostly feel it with braking, steering. Jeep has 8 speed trans and it handles the tires fine, tires are smooth and quiet on road which was a main draw for me as it’s a daily driver and weekend warrior. Speedometer for me is pretty well spot on with gps comp coming from 255/75 stock. I don’t plan to lift anytime soon which ultimately lead to the decision on the smaller size, might throw on rubicon takeoff suspension later but not needed for this size. Overall, I would recommend to anyone considering this size/tire. Here are a few before/after shots for comparison for any considering the setup, as you can see it’s really a minor difference (especially in photos, looks better in person).

How have those tires held up? Looks sweet and they're very affordable too, I'm thinking about grabbing those for my stock sport, they went on the rims without any issue?

I love this look. This size, color, and trim package + the mopar lift is what I've been dreaming of.

The only thing I worry about now is the tailgate hinge since the tire is so heavy.
I wanted to be able to do some more off-roading without worrying about those 215/75/17 street tires (one of which I have already had a rock embed itself in and a tread torn off somewhere). The tires definitely added about 2” of height so there’s a little more clearance but sadly not anymore room for the tires to flex. Anyways these are a major improvement from the stock tires especially if you don’t want to doesn’t the money on flashy wheels. My goal with my Jeep is classy not flashy!

My sport is lifted but I have 285/75/17 ridge grapplers on Rubicon wheels - I could have jumped up in size but wanted to stay narrow with the factory wheel. This set up did require a relocation bracket as my tire interefered with bumper cutout and wouldn’t allow my tailgate to close. It was very close a few washers or shim may have worked but wanted a relo bracket anyways for bigger tires down the road.

@Swanny297 How much did it cost you to get the relocation bracket installed? Did it just allow some more space to fit the 285's or also made the hinges stronger to take the additional weight off the hinges?

BTW, your Jeep looks killer. I just got my Snazzberry Sport S 2 door and made up my mind after reading all 15 pages on this thread to go with the 285 with Rocktrix RT105 wheels which have a -12 offset so I hope the wheel poke looks great but I'm worried about the tire carrier as my dealer mentioned that running a 33inch tire might bend the tire carrier and its recommended to get the tailgate reinforcement installed which will allow holding any larger tire with no problems and also keep the warranty in place.

I should have just added that with the build but missing it

Really curious to hear more about your experience with the change in braking feel. Does it take longer to stop? Have your brakes worn out faster? That’s my main issue that’s making me hesitant about getting this size tire
