DOnt you think 5.13's are a little steep? Is this your daily driver?
It’s my only vehicle but I was in a WFH position even before COVID so I did not have a commute. On the highway, I like to drive anywhere between 70 to 80 MPH and the delta in RPMs between the 4.88s and 5.13s was ~250. When I had a 2014 JKU 6-speed with 37s and a 4.56 gear ratio, that was a pig to get rolling (and I had a supercharger on it).

In talking with a lot of experienced Jeepers and a few shops, most recommended 5.13s to account for the heavier mass (once you factor in an aftermarket bumper which is eventually down the road). While 5.13s may not match exact mathematics of preserving the stock ratio, I hope to enjoy the acceleration benefits. Time will tell if I regret it or not ‍:fingerscrossed:...

Thanks, I did the math and came up with 4.56 and was going to do 4.88 just for future upgrades (wink)

Yeah, @chevymitchell is doing my install and goes with the math to 4.88. I’m just a rebel/idiot and not listening so, hopefully, I don’t regret it :fingerscrossed: :whew::blush:. Not planning on wheeling very hard so I’m being realistic that most of my Jeep’s time will be on the road, then gravel/dirt/beach trails, with rare hardcore wheeling.

HAHA, thats what I said to myself, then found myself on the Rubicon Trail this summer. I prefer overlanding and forest roads because I dont like to beat on my baby, but sometimes I have to try the hard stuff.

Awesome....At 75mph, the gearing calculator on this site is showing the delta in rpm's between 4.88 & 5.13 running 37s on a JL is only 120rpm. Factoring 37" KO2'S measure closer to 35", I bet you'll be running about 2450rpm at 75mph. It will definitely feel peppy...I'm interested to hear how you like the gears.
