Here's pics of mine when stock, then added 295/70/17s (33.3" tall), then a Rubicon suspension swap.
Tires rubbed that plastic euro insert between the bumper & grill, not much though. I would recommend the Rubi swap though if you plan to run 33s.
Here's my install thread if you decide to go that route

It stayed like this for about five minutes. 33” rubi take offs with no lift.

Instead of doing a RC 2.5 spacer lift im looking into 1” or 1.5” spacers and going with 33s. as a daily driver i think the 2.5 and 35s may cause too many issues down the road (LCAs, trackbar, regears, etc). i think with a small spacer lift and 33s i can still get the look im going for. if i notice driving issues i can add LCAs and a trackbar later.

thoughts?

4door rubicon springs with 285/70-17 Falken Wildpeaks AT3W. I get quite a bit of sag in the back when loaded down with gear. I ordered 3/4” daystar spacers to bump it up a bit when the snow melts.

I just helped a neighbor install a Metalcloak gamecharger on a TJ and that kit was really nice. I’ll eventually go with Dana 44’s and the MC 3.5 on 35’s.

For that size lift I'd get the Rubicon suspension swap, pretty common to find the whole set on the on-site classifieds for $150 or less. You only need the springs and shocks and you'll be keeping everything OEM parts. Adding the LCAs later if you need them is no big deal and only about $80 more. The extra spring travel and a bit firmer suspension works great IMO.

I also added a 3/4" front Rugged Ridge spring spacer when I added 180lbs of winch & bumper to retain the same level suspension.

would settling for a spacer be OK? i do no major trails - this is strictly for a better aesthetic.

also, i hate the big wheel skinny tire look. if i were to go 33s what size wheel would give me the look im going for? 17x8.5?

Settling for a spacer is ok but if you can find a Rubicon swap for almost the same $$ I'd definitely go that route, you'll have the slightly longer (and better) shocks and full spring travel. Also running all OEM parts is a good thing as far as a dealer trying to give you grief for those spacers. It shouldn't happen but some dealers look for any reason to deny service.

And yes, a 17x8.5 is a good plan, you need to be aware of offset, mine are a +10 so they don't poke much. If you run offset more negative (like a -12) your wheels will poke quite a bit and start to affect scrub radius which can create adverse steering behavior.

Also a 17x8.5 will allow you to run most tire widths without problems and allow a nice sidewall vs a larger diameter wheel.

great thanks! i like when they poke out maybe half an inch or so.

how would 17x9 fit/look? i have some 17x8.5 wheels i like but there seem to be more options for 17x9

17x9 is fine, just add 5 to the offset to get the same fit as an 8.5 offset, so a 17x8.5 +10 would be the same "poke" as a 17x9 +15
Here's a good site to play with different combos, I entered a 285/70/17 on both 8.5 & 9" wheels as an example
https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?wh...70-17X9ET15&fcl=2in&wcl=1.25in&scl=2in&sr=0in

Here's my fit at the fender (before I lifted) on 295/70/17s on 17x8.5 +10 to give you an idea, the more positive you go w/ offset the less the tire will poke. You don't want too positive though as you'll risk contact to the inside suspension/fender area. I would keep offset to a +20 max since you don't have the wider Rubicon axles.

I have 33's 295/17/70 on Mammoth 17x9 wheels with the Teraflex 1.5 kit with falcon shocks (just spacers with shocks). Also just installed Teraflex track bar and the longer mopar LCA's.

I think I'm in the same boat as you with daily driver and looking better.

The wheels poke out about an inch but I like it. Could post pics tomorrow if you want.
