I had an '89 Oregon State Police for a few years. Nice original paint and I'd dress it up for car shows with magnetic stickers.
Fantastic pic!!! oh man brings back memories. have to see if I can dig out an old Polaroid of mine. bought it at an auction so lights etc removed.

My JLUR is only the third four wheeled vehicle I've had since 1997. I bought a brand new Mustang GT in '97. I kept the '97 till '09 and traded it in on a low mile 2007 Mustang GT. I recently traded in my 07 GT on my low mile '19 JLUR. I probably should have just kept the Mustang as well and not traded it. I knew I was going to get a Wrangler or a Bronco, and origninally was going to get a new one. Technically my JLUR has more HP than my '97 Mustang did stock, if I recall it was only 215HP. It would light the tires up and was fun to drive anyway. I know it topped out at around 143 MPH (depending on how accurate the speedo was). Think my '07 GT had around 300 HP stock, not too much more than the JLUR but lighter of course.

I don't mind my Jeep's take off down low, but heaven help me if I want to pass somebody on the interstate at speed. I have a manual and it seems flooring it in 5th or 6th does absolutely nothing. ;). I guess that's not true, it burns dollar bills when I floor it. Thats mostly what I miss during daily driving so far. In my Mustangs, I could always accelarate quickly when I wanted to.

Now, I may live in the city currently for work, but I grew up in the country and am back there pretty regularly. My parent's place is down 5 miles of gravel and I always hated taking my Mustangs down it. Now when I visit them, I will take a different route and head down about 10 - 15 miles of gravel road with a couple creek crossings that actally gets me there a little quicker than the route I would take in the Mustang. I haven't had the Jeep in snow yet, but that is something I'm looking forward to. I didn't like to travel in snow in my Mustangs, but had to many times over the years. Have had to be towed up some steep Ozark hills to get out from my parents' place a few times .

Now a 4 door Wrangler may not seem like it has a lot of space, but compared to my Mustangs, I feel like I can haul anything now. Oh, and I can tow, maybe not a lot but I can tow. I've already bought a hitch carrier to be able to carry my CRF450RL dirtbike (though its licenced and can be ridden on highways). I could only carry my bicycle on the Mustang and I was not putting a hitch on it.

Speaking of motorcycles, I've had a lot more of them in the years I've had my Mustangs, think I've had about 8 of them, one Yamaha, three Hondas, and four Harleys. I'm down to two motorcycles now. Though I also still do have my 2003 CR250R, it just needs a motor. While my current Harley Steet Glide Special is slow by motorcycle standards, it is faster than most cars and will accelerate relatively quickly up to its governed top speed of 110mph. I have never gotten around to putting a tuner on that one to open the top speed up. Had put a tuner on one of my Wide Glides, and it would go faster than 110mph. My CRF450RL is basically a slightly detuned heavier version of Honda's race 450s. It is limited in top speed by gearing but will get there pretty quickly. I did put a tuner on it, but really haven't opened it up yet, as I need to get around to adding an aftermarket freeflowing exhaust first. I may not do that though as I kind of like the way it is running now and I run it a lot in the woods and I don't need more power there. I mainly bought the tuner to help with flame outs as that bike likes high revs and can stall easily in slower technical sections.

Damn, I wrote a book up there. I'm basically happy with the Jeep, just think I may have to add another Mustang at some point. I also am currently dealing with two speeding tickets I got back in December on the same day One on the way to work and one on the way home from work. (I actually haven't had a lot of speeding tickets in decades of driving even if all my talk of top speeds above would have you think otherwise). I've told the lawyers who are handling them for me (I'm not a lawyer but work with them) to tell the traffic court that I got rid of that fast Mustang and got a slow Jeep. ;)

Yes and no. I have driven sports sedans for a long time, most recently a first gen Cadillac CTS-V (6.0L V8 with 400hp and 6-speed manual transmission). I still have it and usually drive it on the few days a week that I have to drive in to my office, but when I quit driving to the office I won't have much opportunity to drive it.
First of all I have no problem driving the Jeep and I've made many road trips in it from 700 to 900 miles a day. However the Cadillac drives so much better on the freeway, it has more than enough horsepower, good throttle response, and very good brakes and handling. So it is good defense against what might happen to me on the freeway. That's the biggest difference I see in my daily driving. The Cadillac has plenty of power but you can't really use it on public roads, it really needs to be on a race track. Whether I would miss it or not doesn't matter, I bought the Jeep to do trails with and nothing else would do. I plan to continue doing trails so I will be keeping the Jeep.

Before I got the Wrangler, I had a Mustang. Before that, a Camaro. I enjoyed driving them and I'll probably get another sport car eventually. Do I regret trading in the mustang for the jeep? Not a bit. I enjoy the extra space to carry stuff. As a one vehicle person, that means a lot. As someone that likes to tinker, the jeep was basically designed for it. And even though she wont admit it, I think the dog likes having the backseat all to herself.

The sports cars were fun to drive, but honestly I didn't have many legal ways to fully enjoy them and didn't want any extra attention. The sports cars were pretty much defeated anytime the snow plow went down the street. The jeep give no shits. It doesn't care if what the weather is or the terrain and as someone with disabled parents, that matters a lot to me.

I have a Dodge Challenger RT and have a JLU XR on order. I am glad you have no regrets… I am sure I won’t either! I am keeping the Challenger.

I kept mine too. I drive it so infrequently that I begin to worry if the gas in it has gone bad…
