Well back on the road again. This time to check out one of the new BOH trails out in Arizona - Telegraph Line.

DAY 1: Jeeps!

My first stop was to finally check out The Jeep Farm. It's a shop dedicated to fixing and restoring classic Jeeps. I was able to get a tour from the owner plus they gave me some neat Jeep Farm swag. They do some really awesome work there.

This CJ7 Renegade was for sale. Tempting but wrong color, wrong year.

Then I headed out to find a nice camp spot for the night above the lake.

DAY 2: Time to break some stuff!

Headed out early to go meet up with @beachbumm78 and @Inkhero at the trailhead of Telegraph Line. We all voted it was a pretty fun trail. You definitely get to test the flex of your Jeep.

Here we are contemplating the Devil's Hole:

After we stopped I checked around to see what made some terrible scraping noises on some of the deeper ruts. Welp, here's the problem right here:

My rear driver side tire pulled up the inner fender liner. The best option was to remove the bent piece and deal with this later. I'm hoping I can bend it straight again, cut off the bottom and re-attach it somehow. If not it looks like a different brand of fender liners is in my future.

Made it through without any further damage. I had a lot of issues getting my RK disconnects re-connected. I almost threw them into the bushes in frustration. I hate those things.

Then back to camp to set up for the night.

Was such a blast wheeling with you both! Great write up & was definitely a fun trail! We did the trail in 3 hours I believe, and that's including the Devil's Hole & fender oops. I'll post some pics & video as soon as I get it all together. And that's a prime lake view spot!

Short video of some highlights of the new trail I ran with @SadRobot & @Inkhero yesterday. Perfect day for a trail. Per usual video just doesn’t do it justice. I believe @Inkhero said he saw on his gauges a 23° decline. I forgot to check. You’ll definitely test out your suspension & flex. Not a hard trail at all but fun for sure!

Any future plans to wheel out in California?
Not right now. We are doing Colorado in August. Will be in Vegas at the end of the month, but we rented a convertible Mustang to drive to a couple hiking places in Kanab Utah.

Was thinking about the southwest next year.... we love the southwest, but kind of switched gears to shipping the Jeep to Iceland for the summer.

DAY 3: Mistakes were made

I had a bit of a change of plans today. Instead of driving straight home I decided to meet up with @Inkhero in Sedona to run Broken Arrow.

I ran it before a few years ago but this time I decided to do more of the optional obstacles. This included the V-notch right before The Steps. Then came what I guess is now called "the incident."

I started on a good line but then something went horribly wrong and I ended up like this:

At that point my Jeep stalled out which I think we decided in the end was a good thing. Had I gone forward any more I most certainly would have flopped it backwards. At that angle it took about 5 tries to get the Jeep started again so I could back up. I backed up which then dropped my driver side tires into the notch putting me onto my side. While not worse than the previous position I'd say it was equally as terrible in its own special way.

After taking a minute to assess the situation we decided the best thing was to slowly crawl forward and see if I could get my front driver side tire to crawl up the side and flip me back over.

This all made for a real exciting end to this trail. I don't know how I managed to crawl out of that situation with so little damage. Only a small scrape on my fender and rock slider.

So a few lessons learned today I suppose.

1. A reminder that all it takes is one mistake to quickly get you into a really bad situation

2. Maybe don't try to v-notch with your daily driver

There is video of the whole thing which I will probably post at some point once I can watch it and figure out where exactly I went wrong. Of all the ways that situation could have ended I think I had the best case scenario. I was able to crawl out of it with very little damage and then drive 8 hours back home.

I was going to say looks like y’all had a great time on Broken Arrow - but now — you had an adventure on it! Yeah the v-notch can sneak up on ya for sure. You definitely got an epic shot but glad that you got out of it. I’d definitely be interested in seeing the video too once you analyze it. It’s been a bit since I’ve done it but it’s easy to end up in an oopsie moment! Seems like you did have some pink jeep bystanders watching you! Glad the damage was minimal. Maybe your jeeps telling you it wants new fenders along with those new inner liners 🤣. Now you’re going to have to come back out and conquer it 🤣.

Ha yeah part of me was like maybe I'll drive around and try it again but then the rational part of me knew that was a really dumb idea.

Yeah, better to see what you did first as to not repeat. Why tempt fate when you have to drive it home. But then again…you only live once. Haha.

Worth it for the epic shot. Might as well print the picture and put it in a frame.

You made it out, mostly unscathed. Nicely done.
But don't forget you have a winch.
You can use it as an adjustable length anchor, not just as something to pull you out with.

Since you mentioned trying the v-notch again, would you do something different at the start to prevent getting in the same situation?
