Hi all! I've had the Owl Dash Cam installed for a month or so, and as a unit I really like it. I have one nagging issue - the power cable plugs into the OBD2 connector. The physical connection seems solid enough, but you have to wiggle it to get power, and the slightest jostle seems to make it lose power. I've tried replacing the cable, but same issue on the new one. I have had the Jeep in for service and the dealer hooked up to OBD2 no problem, so I don't think it's a bad OBD2 port.

Anyone else having this issue with an Owl Cam? Trying to narrow down what I'm dealing with. Thanks!

How do you like the camera otherwise? I'm really liking this camera due to the internal facing camera and feel it would provide some security when door-less but concerned with some reviews. How's the video quality and how stable is the mount?

Otherwise it's very good! You need the vertical dash mount, which doesn't come in the standard box. It's actually just a repurposed RAM mount suction cup, but it's very sturdy. I didn't think the normal mount was as solid, but again, doesn't work with the Jeep dash anyway. The video quality and everything is excellent. Transferring video to your phone is a little clunky, but I'm getting used to it. The security features are EXCELLENT, and like you, that was a big driver for me since I've had the windows and doors off full-time for several weeks.

If I could just nail down this power cutting on and off problem I'd be golden. Take a hard look at the Raven system too - I think that's the only other one on the market that comes close in capability. Hope that helps! Happy to snap some pictures if you'd like.

Got any pics of it mounted in the Jeep? Also, how about zip tying the connection to make it more stable?

I'll snap some pics in about an hour. The frustrating thing is, it seats in the connector, so a zip tie wouldn't help I don't think, but the slightest rocking knocks out power connectivity.

try to spray the camera's connector with some non-residual electrical contact cleaner.

That's a great idea - thank you. Any recommended product?

I use MG Chemicals Electrosolve Zero Residue Contact Cleaner. Though I’m in Canada so stocks may vary.
Oh man, that'll only work on hole flow...

kidding, kidding...
