Salesperson told me that a manual will deduct a few points off the residual on a lease. This true?

Post on the Edmunds lease forum and ask. It doesn’t do much to the used value on kbb.com for a jk. A plain sport has the best residual. Then rubicon and sport s. Sahara is the worst.

I like to drink coffee. I often drink coffee while driving. I took a 6 speed manual for a test drive and I had to shift that thing like 50 times in miles. It felt like all I did was shift that thing. Shifting got real old real quick. I have owned many manual transmission vehicles over the years, I had no desire to have one in the wrangler.

6MT lowers the lease residual, but there is no indication that it lowers the 'actual' resale residual. In fact, all evidence is that 4x4s of all types depreciate slower with a manual transmission, there is just a smaller pool of potential buyers.

It also reduces the selling price by almost $2k.
At the end of the day, it should be almost a wash.

Are we absolutely sure that it lowers the lease residual? What banks does it affect? Does it actually say on the program sheet for the Wrangler, subtract 4 or however many points for a manual?

Different banks are different. When i bought mine Chrysler had a lower residual but USBank did not.

I think Chrysler just started breaking out the manual residual last April

Thank u. I figured CF would be the only one who lowers it. I heard Ally and CF are very close with their figures.

I don’t like The way Ally does their leases but their payments are usually pretty close. Often a little lower than CF.make your dealer check all 3.

Yes. And they do high MF, high residual to get to their payment which is a bad combination.

I have found USBank to be a good alternative. Like I said - make your dealer check all three. They will usually just check CF.

Also - and you may know this - Negotiate price first. Then talk lease.

The best way to get a good deal on a lease is to start with a good price. Lots of times dealers wont even tell you the sales price on a lease. Don't let them do that.
