What dealer? I'm only 2 hours or so from Dallas. I may have to make a trip up.
Not a dealer. I bought it from a member of this forum. It was for sale for about two weeks and I was surprised that no one had jumped on it yet especially at that price. I planned the trip in the morning and my wife and I left later that afternoon.

When I was looking for a soft top I was checking the member for sale forum at least a couple of times a day. I would also check the WTB section too just to see if a seller had posted a response on anyone’s WTB threads. The prices are getting a little out of hand at the moment IMO but supply and demand are also in effect for sure. If I had to guess, I would say that they won’t be available through Mopar until the first of the year.

After having a 2004 Rubicon back in the day that I purposely let go for a more family friendly vehicle, I finally was able to order a JLUR three days ago! Kids are big enough to get in and out and I'm getting the list of mods ready.

I'm so excited and it really is a dream realized... needless to say my 2004 reference was blown out of the water with the new JL.. anticipation is putting it mildly.

So I looked for a jeep forum and really like it here.. but now after reading threads.. should I be waiting for steering problems, electronic issues, my future white grill to turn yellow, etc.?? It's like reading WebMD when you have a headache.. you'll think you're terminal.

I know it's a new model year, it's a "jeep thing", and so on but I still can't have my extreme enthusiasm and excitement dampened a bit..I'm still pumped, I guess I'll deal with anything that comes my way.. anyone else feel the same?

Do what I did and get a good extended warranty. Yes, you'll have to pay more, but you can also sleep easier knowing if you do have issues, it'll be covered. It's generally a good idea to get extended warranty during a new gen's first year since they do usually come with a few kinks that get ironed out in future models.

To add on to what was said here, mopar offers a 100k/5yr mile money back warrantee. If you don’t use it you get your money back.. I was skeptical of this deal at first but after researching it and buying it, it’s legit

Warranty is a good point, I'll look into it. Can't wait for it to be here, but its only been a week so I'm thinking couple months out yet. Thanks for all the input, when they are expensive as they are now a person just wants everything to go well!

Be careful with extended warranties, especially if you plan on modifying the vehicle. Throwing on a set of 315s is one thing, but things like suspension lifts and other major changes to the vehicle will, in many cases, not be covered.

As far as reliability goes, I've got almost 8k on the odometer. I've taken this thing through three states, it's been on four wheeling trips, and I've already got significant modifications installed. Outside of Mopar's silly spring isolator design flaw in their 2" lift kit (which isn't inherent to the original vehicle), I've had absolutely zero issues with this thing. It's been fantastic both on and off-road.

Although I do not want disease!

Problems may happen at any time .. but the good thing is that you will find the proper attention

They made some really nice decisions, like changing transmissions, many great interior changes. So far, the recalls haven’t applied to my Jeep. While I was nervous when I started reading the posts too, nothing has applied to me. Which will probably be your experience too. And everything I touch and change, I am left with appreciating the design and engineering of it. The steering still feels funny at higher speeds, and that concerns me a little, but wider wheels and tires are next on the list anyway. ;)

If you tell the dealer at the time of purchase what you are planning to do with your Jeep, they will write that into the warranty. I told my dealer that and told them what I was specifically doing...2" Mopar Lift...35" Tires...New Wheels and bumpers...and they wrote that into the warranty...YES...I have it in writing on my contract. I din't know that could be done. They were the ones that suggested it. And yes, it did cost a bit more but it was like $150 more so I took it. In other words...I'm still protected under the warranty for any issues that may arise from the things that someone else put on because I had all of that work done at a Jeep specialist shop.

Every time I log onto any car forum there will always be posts of one issue or another. So reading a forum can sometimes be disheartening but its usually just the unfortunate few that post issues that get the most press.

Just imagine if there was a Yugo forum back in the day!!! lol

I always recommend visiting forums for whichever vehicle you buy because like on here, you learn allot!

True, but I'm not talking about what the dealership installs. I'm talking what you install.

The dealer didn't install my parts. I'm protected if there is a problem caused by the install to other components. Aside from the standard warranty on the Mopar lift, all of the aftermarket parts' warranties are handled by the place that put them on until that time runs out.
