If I order a 2024 Sahara just before ordering is stopped, will the 2025 model information (colors, options, pricing) be available before my 2024 order arrives at the dealer? I am assuming I am under no obligation to buy if I place an order.

The reason I ask is I just had to buy the wife a new (actually a used) vehicle so I have decided to delay buying myself a new wrangler. I want to order one so I get exactly what I want but I would like to see what color options the 2025 model will bring. I am hoping Gobi comes back but if not, I will go with Sarge Green. But I am also worried that Sarge may be discontinued for 2025. If Sarge or Gobi is offered in the 2025 models, I will just order a 2025. But if I don't order a 2024 in Sarge and 2025 has neither Sarge or Gobi (or something very similar like Commando or Gator) then I'll be disappointed. Clear as mud?

Any guidance is appreciated.

As we roll into 2025, I’m very tempted to hold out. The only thing that has me happy with my current order, is there is nothing that the 2025 will have have that is going to warrant the price increases we will see. I do hope they offer more interior colors though.

Yep all you are going to get new (besides maybe a different color) is price increases. Plus will be next summer early probably.

Colors can come and go with little to no warning. Trim and option changes are model year with rare exceptions. Your priority appears to be color. There is always a degree of gamble. Example— 24 was an improvement for Willys buyers over 23. Other options were more trim level restricted reducing choice. All red seats in an otherwise black interior, no option, but full float axle for instance. 25 could lose the Stop Start off button for mpg compliance, or more nannies like exit honks, also could possibly get the T-6. If you can place a no or refundable down wait as long as possible to order so 25 info becomes available in time to cancel or choose not to. If not put your money on 24 or 25 and spin the wheel. Win or Lose. ? The house holds all the aces on a price increase . ?

It's only a mild exaggeration to state that everything about the Wrangler can come and go without warning. Certain colors and certain options are limited to certain trims. More to the point, those colors and options can be available this week and not the next. And so on.

There's cogent advice in Post #2: "(T)here is nothing that the 2025 will have that is going to warrant the price increases we will see."

With that in mind, your approach might be to order what you want, when you see it is available. The only constant here, as recent history has proven, are recurrent price increases. Everything else has been ephemeral to varying degrees: paint choices, engine & transmission combos, etc.

Just make sure that whichever dealership you put the order in through, they either don't need a down payment, or that they are willing to let you push your down payment onto a different order.

Typically they'll only do that in the case of your order being something that they can easily sell off the lot.

My Wrangler was a very low optioned order, and it was definitely not a popular choice at the time. The number of Willys Sport EcoDiesels with tow package only and manual windows, manual doors out there seem to be pretty low compared to other trims.

As such, my dealer told me from the very beginning that if I didn't purchase it through them, they would keep my $2,000 down payment, or let me apply it to something else on their lot, but I would not be allowed to do another factory order and move the $2,000 on to that. Basically they told me that they would have trouble selling my dumb down EcoDiesel.

So as long as you're spec'ing out your factory order to what would be considered popular choices, most dealerships will probably be okay with transferring your down payment to a different factory order.

Fair points, but deposit policies will vary according to state law. That's something that the buyer will want to authenticate before he writes the check.

E.g., in Pennsylvania, dealers must by law return vehicle order deposits to the customer if or when he requests it. It's understood that he then loses the claim to the related vehicle when it arrives, but his funds aren't being held hostage, either.

Another thing to keep in mind, particularly in those jurisdictions where the dealer holds the cards, is the amount of the good faith deposit that is being requested. My selling dealer asked for $500, which was fine. $2K would've been fine, also, with the knowledge that I could have it returned to me as noted above. Any dealer that had the policy described in the quoted post wouldn't have seen a penny from me.

So, proceed carefully.

Excellent points. Yes, I will definitely have to speak with the dealer and make sure we are both on the same sheet of music before proceeding!

Any new insights here? I’m starting to think about a new order to replace my 2021 coming off lease in July. I’ll do another Rubicon or Rubicon X 4xe. I’m interested in A) updates to the 4xe, and B) new colors. Originally wanted Sarge but heard that is going away/gone away? Maybe I’ll do Anvil? Or just another red like my first Sport? Or something really cool I don’t even know about?

They’ve done the updates they’re going to do for a bit. Don’t think we’ll see anything “new” until the next version Wrangler is released.
If you wait you’ll get a nice price increase and maybe a different color than what’s available now.
