Absolutely! With the use of a diode and/or relay you can switch the lights on with your reverse light wire or Aux switch as a trigger.

There are already some good threads on the forum describing this in detail.

I’m not that great at electrical

Like this? No diodes? just relay?

With a relay, a diode becomes optional on the switched circuit. However, may still be necessary on the auto circuit.

If you look through this thread, it’s fairly long, (https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/backup-lights.10763/) you will find people who have wired up to both aux switches and reverse lights. Most folks went with diodes, in particular a dual input single output version, like this one https://www.etrailer.com/Accessorie...8pQUXLbLuBRIi6HkhwJyzwpwMBSYF7ZQaAh9jEALw_wcB

I haven’t done this myself, I just wired a couple of rock light directly into my reverse light circuit.

@Htfan

Actually, you'd need 2 diodes in the mix... and no relay needed, if you use Aux switch.

Actually, It's really personal preference. Some people use relays if they believe their Aux lights require too much amperage for the factory reverse light wiring. For the switch, no need for a relay/diode.

In my case, two diodes did the job since only 18w x2. I also added an inline fuse just in case.

So I can use a relay like in drawing and add two diodes, one going in between switch and factory reverse light and the other one? Thanks

Do your homework carefully. A tad of misinformation being spewed in this thread.

It's pretty easy to hook up a relay. I did it to wire a 10" light bar mounted under the bumper to come on with the reverse lights. I think it was a brown wire on the taillight harness that I tapped into, but check the wiring diagram. I tapped into power at the 12V outlet in the back for power. All the wiring is hidden under the driver's side plastic panel in the rear, and the power and ground are routed down to the bumper through the rubber grommet that is already there. I plan to switch to the oracle bumper lights soon and I'll use the existing wiring that I have in place for that light.
