Oracle Jeep Wrangler JL “black series” LED Tail Light

Just installed my Oracle "Black Series" LED tail lights. I like them. About a 20 minute, plug and play install.

Looks great! Notice the backup camera any less well-lit, any darker? I've heard the Black Series tails can darken the view because of the blackened/smoked lenses.

Looks plug and play except for the sensors. Do all OEM LED come with the BSM sensors? I suspect similar work to be involved transferring those sensors over to any aftermarket light.

Sadly that isn’t true. I saw a Winjet video and the process couldn’t be more simple. With the OBS tails it literally couldn’t be more difficult.

I’m extremely disappointed in this product. I know it was generally designed to be a direct replacement for the stock halogen tails, but installing these when a blind spot monitor is equipped is the most difficult thing I’ve tried to do on this car to date.

Other aftermarket LEDs come with a separate harness that plugs directly into the BSM harness. It’s plug & play even with the safety group. With this product, we’re supposed to deconstruct the wiring harness and physically re-wire it.

This really should’ve been addressed ahead of time with a separate harness. Asking customers to fix the issue on their own with such an intensive “fix” is extraordinarily unreasonable for a $300 product.

Did you have factory LED tail lights to start with? I ask because Oracle states that these are for vehicles with halogen lighting. That's probably why you needed to change the setting with your Tazer.

I had led tails from factory. They claim that if you cut the resistors off that you wont get codes. Didnt work for me. Had to set it to non led on my Taze .

Hi David, thanks for your comments. As you stated, these are designed to be plug-and-play for halogen tail lights; this is stated on the website product page. We created the switch workaround for those with LED/blindspot monitors as we received a lot of interest but re-design takes months.

This switch was created for those who wanted to put in the extra steps to make this product work for their vehicle, which the product was not originally designed for. So it's really less of an "issue" and more of modifying a product work for your use. The video is published so customers get an idea of the work of those extra steps before purchasing this product. We're sorry to hear that the modification was more than you anticipated.

Just noting you said "For that much money I would prefer plug and play" re: the Oracle Black Series tails. I'm just noting they're less than half the price of OEM LEDs. Considering the qualify is probably pretty similar, just seems like the small amount of work required is probably worthwhile. Just my humble opinion.

@ORACLElights re: your quote of what I said, I honestly did not realize the rewiring was required. I thought it was a simple swap.

I’m not going to suggest it’s not my fault that I didn’t pay attention to how much work was involved. It’s just extremely frustrating to see companies like Winjet (which, in my opinion, create inferior products to yours) have the design in place and sell for less. They have a harness that splits off and connects directly to the BSM sensor so all you have to do is move it over.

All due respect because I know it’s not as simple as consumers would expect it to be to do a redesign to suit the change. But I think that’s an overdue modification.

No offense intended. Had an extremely frustrating evening trying to knock this out, don’t have a pin removal tool, etc. Wasn’t a fun day.

I almost pulled the trigger on the tail-lights as well. (preordered the fender light and smoked turn housing) The wife asked me kindly not to order at this time, as I currently have smoked tail-lights, but they are a 'cheaper' quality.
I plan to pick up the head and tail-lights .... eventually.

Gotcha. Unfortunately, creating a harness would also cause further delays in making the switch. We've definitely taken your comments into consideration, and please give us a ring if we can help with the install.

Do you know if the size dimensions match the OEM LED lights? Or at least fairly closely? Trying to see if the rugged ridge taillight guard will fit them. Really like how it looks even though it barely adds any protection. And I love the smoked look if your lights.
