Must be someone else sorry. My transmission and engine are still going great at 165,000 miles. I too have benefited from the warranty when they repaired couple of minor leaks from a few gaskets. My 08 has been pretty solid.

I have a 2019 JLU Sport S. Hard top. Nicely equipped, even the cold weather package. I love it. Is it better than the 2012 JKU Sahara that I had? Even with the drivers side head replacement that 2012 was head and shoulders above my 2019. It drove better and had hardly any wind noise, which my 2019 is loaded with.
I have no idea what has changed so much. My JLU Sport S Is totally stock, no changes, and it even rides rougher than the 2012.

Weak steering components, poor electrical, high compression engine pings in summer...
Transmissions are good, body looks nice.

Dont trust the electrical period

Since you seem to like older Jeeps (BTW, nice photo of the Bantam BRC you posted earlier), here's a photo of my "other" Jeep, a 1944 MB. Minor mods including full roll cage, civilian top, wheels and tires, but drivetrain is completely stock; I might return it to GI condition someday.

...and to keep on thread; I think the JL is the best Jeep yet, due to it's combination of creature comforts and off-road capability...although years ago I had a V8 transplant CJ5 that was a whole lotta fun!
VERY NICE!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!

I've owned a CJ, a TJ, and this summer I'll be getting a JLUR.
I've driven my friend's JKU and JLUR and I agree that the JL is hands down the winner when it comes to overall drivability, on or off-road. I do miss my TJ, as I spent the most amount of time (and Money) making it capable. The sad realization that made me decide to go newer was when my buddy's stock JKU would go anywhere my modified TJ with custom long arm suspension, 4.88 gears, lockers and 35s would go. In the end, my TJ was fun, but the back aches from long trips, the ringing ears from the loud top and tires, and the frame repairs was just too much for me. Bring on the JL!

My '19 JLUR is my first Jeep, so I can't opine without talking out my ass.

Back in college my buddy had a jeep, I think it was a TJ. Had the N/A 4 cylinder and manual transmission, but I loved riding in it. He didn't go wheeling in it, but it seemed to be bulletproof.

It sucked down gas like Jules drinking Brad's sprite in "Pulp Fiction" though.

Every generation will be better than the former. The JL is the best Wrangler to date. I do believe the JK will be fondly remembered as the legacy model going forward though. The JK saved Chrysler, reinvigorated Jeep and brought the Wrangler to success never expected from a Wrangler. The JL largely is not much different then the JK in 2012, just refined/updated.
Indeed. JKU turned Wrangler from a 50,000 units/year niche vehicle into the 200,000 units/year mainstream vehicle it is today.

True too. My JLU Sahara came from factory with 1/2-inch more ground clearance than my JKU Rubicon Recon! All the while, it drives better, is more refined and more responsive in daily driving.

Just ask @cosine he knows!
My first Wrangler, only had CJs prior, so yeah, IMO the JL is the best Wrangler :)

Although I always hated the name Wrangler, wish they just would've continued w/ the lettering only without a name.

Had 2 CJ, 1- xj 1-TJ now the 18 rubicon jlur

Love em all but the motors while reliable were weak for on road performance. Here in the mountains they really struggled.

Not so with my JL. That 3.6 is pretty darn amazing on any mountainous road. 4.88's and 37's make it just plain fun. I'm sure the 2L and diesel are the same.

Then add the on road and especially off road comfort, it is just a pleasure to drive anywhere.

Love the seats, the AC output, the USB, SAT radio, on and on. I'm not a fan boi of jeep or any brand. If something comes along that's better I'm gone. But there is nothing that will do what a jeep can do. Some are getting closer but not hard core, or level of aftermarket availability.

Set it up almost any way YOU want for what you do and drive it from home and go ANYWHERE!

Yeah it's the best for what I do

You know... there's a good point here. Both of my TJs "needed" a lift immediately, even my Rubicon. The JL so far I'm not in a rush to lift it. I'm sure I will eventually but the factory m/ts it came with seem a good size so far. So perhaps the JL is the better "Jeep". The TJ was great, but needed aftermarket, the JL I don't feel that same need. I just have such a hard time getting past the smallness of the TJ and it was modern enough to be reliable but simple enough I felt comfortable working on it/could patch it together if I ever needed to.

I will also say I think people are a bit dramatic about how terrible TJs were on highways. My TJs were daily drivers and part of the routine was taking them across Wyoming and Montana on a monthly basis for years. They were loud and wind impacted them more than other vehicles I've owned, but I had no issue setting the cruise at 80+ and taking a hand off the wheel to eat a sandwich or grab a drink. Trying to talk on a cell phone was pretty much useless though.
