I’m having the exact same problem on my new JLU . Does anybody know what the exact problem was ? Mine is at the dealer right now , it only has 1,000 miles on it .
Sounds like a lot of us describing the same issue, but no one has yet relayed what the fix was. Let us know when you find out folks!

They said it was a pin leak in the heater coil. So small it won’t cause a puddle but will atomize when it heats up. Drive car 5 minutes pull over and shut down five minutes, when you start up you’ll want to go get breakfast. FCA have started a case on this so it is documented

You don't think its just the smell of new car products? Is this the first time some of you are using the heater?

My Jeep had a puff of white smoke that came out of the ac vent after it was sitting for a few min while I filled up with gas . The smoke was moist and smelled a lot like coolant , my jl is at the dealer right now . They are saying they don’t see any problems , but I know there is a problem .

My dealer is telling me there is no problem . Clearly there is a problem , smoke shouldn’t come out of the vent at all . My dealer won’t even offer me a courtesy vehicle .smh. If you guys are in Southern California stay away from moss bros Jeep in Riverside .

I don't think so. This is probably the 8th brand new vehicle I've purchased in my lifetime. I've never smelled anything similar to this in any new car before. Its like a chemically mapley scent and I can't catch even the faintest whiff unless the heater is on.

I had same problem at 1000 miles. They replaced the heater core and the problem was solved. Unfortunately they have to remove the entire dash and console. In the process they managed to scratch/mar/damage some of the panels. Pay close attention to the areas where panels get pried apart, etc.

My dash also used to be quiet and tight, not a peep. Since I got my jeep back there is now creeks, rattles, etc. The frustrating thing is I voiced my concerns at the time I was told what the problem was. I explained that I knew exactly what had to be done, and I feared they would introduce such noises, and I would find evidence of panels being pried apart, the dash being removed, etc. All of my fears came true. I am furious over this. The dealer even broke/cut a wire under my console and half assed spliced it back together with a butt connector and claimed it was like that from the factory. I had dropped my phone between the seat the day before dropping it off for the work, and had to fish it out from nearby that wire, and with certainty I can say it was not like that from the factory.

Hope others experience is better than mine.

My Jeep did the same thing, but it became a steady stream of vapor at times. It seemed to occur on cool mornings when the HVAC was set on auto, and the heat would come on. Hold your ground...it may have helped that I had video proof of the "vape" that was pouring out of my vents.

So I have that same sweet maple syrupy type smell that folks have described as antifreeze. I only smell it when the heater is turned on. For those who have gotten a "fix," what worked? New heater core? What did it take to remedy the problem? So far its still pretty warm here in California, so not much need for the heater just yet. But I really don't feel like me or my family getting ill from our heater when the temperature outside begins to drop!
Hi Fire Burns,
We understand your concern. Send us a private message if you decide to have your dealer check so this out so we can assist you while your Jeep is being serviced.

So I just spoke with the service manager and he said that smoke or vapor is normal coming out of the vents ‍♂, I couldn’t believe what he was saying . It’s upsetting having problems with a new vehicle but much more upsetting when they try to play you off as an idiot , and to top it off they won’t give me a rental . Smh.

That’s when I noticed the smoke , it was a cool morning and my hvac was set to auto .ill try to get video proof of mine . It’s sad that we have to go the lenght of recording it so that they believe us at the dealer . It’s much easier to get a hold of sales than it is to get a hold of anyone in the service department at moss bros Jeep in Riverside CA. Stay away from there .

REALLY?? I mean, I'm 60 years old, owned almost a dozen Jeep products, many of them new. I think at my tender age I know a new car smell. Car heates up this problem shows whether heat or A/C. Dealer is putting in a new heater coil. Starting there. Will keep you informed.

That SUCKS. I am having my heater coil replaced next week, and have had the same concern. I'm seeing something about PM to Jeepcares, how do we do that? I want them held fully responsible for the condition of the dash re-assembly.

Sorry Marty, I should have been more clear. I didn’t mean new car smell, I meant like that smell you get from something that burns for the first time and the oils and chemicals take a while to burn off.

Mine is being done right now , i am also concerned about how the dash will be removed and re installed . No one cares about your Jeep than you do and that includes the guy that’s working on it . I’ve had a very bad experience so far at my dealer .
