Wow . That sounds like good service . Today is day 14 without my Jeep , and they still haven’t got it fixed . I don’t know what to do .
That sounds like way too long for the repair. In my old Renegade TH, I had a strange minimal noise coming from the rear-end at around 5k, brought it in for an oil change and mentioned the noise. They gave me a loaner, called me around lunch and said they traced it to the rear PTU and did not want to mess with anything internal, and so they overnighted an entire rear-end, and I had the Jeep back by 3 the next afternoon, was good as new.

I have an appt. tomorrow for the loose steering and I am hoping for a similar good experience!

It definitely should not take 10+ days. I was very clear with my dealer that I would not be parking it in their lot while I waited for them to get it in. I told them let me know when to bring it in, I will bring it in, and I expect the repair to begin on that day. So that is what we did. My dealer diagnosed the problem, ordered the parts, and then I dropped it off. The dealer was very clear that the heater core was at least a week out as they showed none in the system for ordering, but once they placed the order they should see it within a few weeks. My dealer also told me my JL was the first their tech would be performing this repair on...that sure didn't inspire confidence.

As for the cosmetic repairs, they called me 3.5 weeks ago and said the dash parts had arrived. I asked them how long would it take to repair and they said they couldn't say as they intended to work on it between other jobs and were booked out through this week. I again told them no way i am leaving my Jeep with you for an undetermined about of time while you fit me in between other jobs. Let me know when I can have a scheduled appointment when you intend to start the work, and I will bring it in.

Well guys , here’s an update on my jl .
It’s still at the dealer and it’s been 22 days . They told me they broke the “heater hose “ and it has not came in . I don’t know what to do , at this point I feel like they are lying to me . In 8 more days my Jeep will fall under the lemon law . I hope any of you don’t go through this it sucks . They have had my Jeep longer than I have .

WE GOT OUR JEEP BACK TODAY!!!!

So all in all they took 24 days to get it back to us , if you can avoid moss brother Jeep in Riverside ca do it their service sucks big time . I’ve only drove for a few miles and I noticed that sweet smell coming through the vents I’m hoping that it’s just residual smell that was there from before . I will keep you guys updated . We’re just really happy to have our jl back .

Good to hear you've got your JL back. Not so glad to hear the smell is still present. Please continue to update this thread when you can as I would still like to monitor. If it doesn't go away soon, I will be less likely to believe this was the problem all along. Of course in Riverside, rarely gets cold enough to even turn the heater on even now in November! Same up here in Solano County!

Sorry for being the guinea pig!

Well guys the sweet smell is still present , I’m starting to think they didn’t fix it or that wasn’t the problem . I haven’t had any steam or smoke come out the ac vents but the smell is there and strong too . I’m thinking about taking it to a mechanic to see if they can tell me where the smell it coming from , it’s definitely coolant .

@JeepCares , can you assist? Please read thread. This poor gentleman @Jl-Family has gone through an ordeal already and the problem still exists. I have similar issue, but I've been monitoring situation rather than taking in my JL for apparently misdiagnosed, possibly unnecessary and lengthy "repairs." Thank you!

This is exactly what I’m afraid of when mine goes in for replacement next week. Thanks for sharing because I’ve gone on record with FCA that the dash better be perfect when they return it to me or hellfire will rain lol.

I had same problem at 1000 miles. They replaced the heater core and the problem was solved. Unfortunately they have to remove the entire dash and console. In the process they managed to scratch/mar/damage some of the panels. Pay close attention to the areas where panels get pried apart, etc.

My dash also used to be quiet and tight, not a peep. Since I got my jeep back there is now creeks, rattles, etc. The frustrating thing is I voiced my concerns at the time I was told what the problem was. I explained that I knew exactly what had to be done, and I feared they would introduce such noises, and I would find evidence of panels being pried apart, the dash being removed, etc. All of my fears came true. I am furious over this. The dealer even broke/cut a wire under my console and half assed spliced it back together with a butt connector and claimed it was like that from the factory. I had dropped my phone between the seat the day before dropping it off for the work, and had to fish it out from nearby that wire, and with certainty I can say it was not like that from the factory.

Hope others experience is better than mine.

My Jeep is having the dash ripped out today . I have the same concerns as you do . I think it’s a difficult thing to do without damaging anything , I know it can be done but I don’t see it being done the correct way at my dealer . Sorry to hear about your Jeep being damaged , I’m crossing my fingers about mine .
Hey how did yours turn out? Any cosmetic damage? Noise?

I don’t see any damage . But I do hear a vibrating sound when the radio is on . I can’t find where it’s comjng from , sounds like it’s under the steering wheel area .

This is my fear. I’ve already threatened to lemon the car and they haven’t fought me on that idea. I said I’d give them a shot at a heater core replacement but if I have ongoing dash reassembly complications it’s gunna be ugly. This isn’t what I paid $36k cash for :-(

Have you brought it back for the noise?

I’ve worked with theFCA Case manager assigned to this issue for me and he managed to get the core delivery changed from “nationwide backorder with no eta” to delivered in 5 days. So anyone dealing with this issue if you are told the nationwide backorder BS, don’t believe it for a minute and call FCA And request a case manager assignment and ask for the part to be expedited to your local dealer.
