Funny you should ask, I was just thinking last night that I need to fix this. Haven’t done anything yet. Taking to the auto body shop on Monday.
Fingers crossed.
Good luck! I’m seriously interested in your fix. Hope it goes well.

I had the same issue today with those bolts. I tried using a larger pipe on the socket wrench as a breaker bar and I unfortunately broke the T50 bit in the hinge bolt - anyone have any advice on what to do next?

Use the right size bit, never use cheater bars, research what you’re doing beforehand.

It's a T55 bolt.

I in fact used the correct bit as listed in the instructions. Thanks for the constructive comment and for the help on solving my problem. You’re aces :)

Who's instructions? Smittybuilt? Haha. Look man, I'm just trying to help. A T50 might feel snug due to the paint, but it's the wrong size.
Yes, the smittybuilt instructions. I need help on how to get it out. I did not mean to imply any sort of tone to my response to you, sorry if it came off that way.

I just stripped one of these unpainted bolts converting my rubi bumper to a stubby. Just ordered an extraction kit.. Last damn bolt!

The instructions provided say to use T50 and it fit properly
yes it is T50, don’t listen to the T55 dude, it worked just fine on mine, you have to hammer in the T50 bit and break the paint to get a snug fit. Use a breaker bar and put your whole weight into it, right before you break your back the bolt should come lose as you face smash into the mirrors/fenders.

I’ll never understand why people are so inclined to believe that they are right, even after realizing that what you’re doing doesn’t work.

Edit: Open mouth, insert foot, I suppose, disregard this post. This bolt came off my tailgate.

Your instructions from Smittybilt are wrong, you should probably let them know.
So how did I remove mine just fine with T50 then? Are Jeep secretly building some doors with T55 bolts? You probably stripped the bejesus out of your bolts.

No. With the paint a T50 will feel close. Just because it worked doesn't mean you used the right size socket. They are definitely all T55. There is no way you could ever get a T55 bit in a T50 bolt.
