What a great thread. I have a 2020 JLU w/33" tires and looking for a 2" lift. I figure I'll go 35" when the 33"s are done.

I was looking at the Mopar 2" with Fox, but reading this thread I'm now looking at the Metal Cloak.

Mine is a DD, but living in Joshua Tree we weekend up in the Big Bear trails and JT mining trail and I've scraped a bit and though not a rock crawler, I do think 2-2.5" would be great.

Finally, to my question - With regard to the back-spacing and driveshaft, the spacing has always confused me. With the 33"s I don't remember any conversation with the shop re spacing. When ordering the lift, should I specify the 4.5 given what I have and what I may have in next tire purchase?

Given we aren't crawling, just rock gardens and "moderate +" trails is the driveshaft necessary??

Oh, and last question (of the first batch!), I plan on installing on the current stock some JL quick releases. Will they work with this suspension lift?

Many thanks in advance!

Not sure if it was mentioned or not but at the $2K mark, consider Rock Krawler’s lift kits as well. Very happy with mine in my current JLUR and was happy with theirs in my JKU Sahara.

I am also running MC’s 2.5’ suspension with the exception of going the full Game Changer. The only issue I’ve had was ripping the boot off of the front driveshaft; already replaced. My impression is that I can still drive around and park in any parking garage; however, I am really enjoying the off road performance. I am confident that you cannot go wrong with any of the lifts. Good luck and let us know what direction you end up going.

Jay,

I believe your approach is sound. I did nearly the same exact thing. I have a 2019 Sport S 3.6L Auto. I installed the 2.5" Mopar lift, with Fuel Ammo (Anthracite) -12mm offset 17x9 wheels (4.5" backspacing) with Goodyear Duratrac Wrangler 35x12.5x17" tires.

I also installed the Teraflex Sway-Bar Quick Disconnects for the added off-road articulation.

I'm loving everything about this setup. The difficult to severe trails here in Colorado is no problem. I do tend to shy away from the extreme stuff only due to my lack of lockers. But I've been on many trails unassisted where some Rubi's required help. Granted most of those Rubicon's were stock, but this setup really is awesome. I'd like to think that driver skill contributed a little, but I digress.

I went with the Mopar lift primarily due to the Warranty worries. The lift is completely standard, nothing special. No adjustable LCA's or anything else.

I really like the -12mm offset (4.5" backspacing), the extra stance really makes this thing sure-footed. Here are a few pics to help you visualize your description, since mine is nearly identical.
