I took off the doors of my Rubi earlier this week. Soft top is down, and I’m loving the openness with the wind in my (thinning) hair. I stopped in the driveway and hopped out to pick up some trash that blew in from somewhere.

The (insert expletive here) horn beeped three times! 🤬 It didn’t beep when the doors were on if the door wasn’t closed. And people wonder why I want to remove a lot of the electronics…

I think you can turn that off. I usually just toss my keys on the dash or in one of the cup holders.

The horn beeps to tell you the key has left the vehicle. It's a very important feature imho. There's a key holder in the cup holder

Tazer jl mini turns off horn notification, when engine is running. It's worth the price on Rubicons and if you use the security option to lockup all brakes if button sequence code is not entered.

But the whole point (or a lot of the point) of keyless start, passive entry, etc, is that I can just leave my key in my pocket. I shouldn't have to take it out just to run back in my garage/house to grab something, or hop out to grab/load something from the cargo area. Fine if its an available feature and important to some people, but it should definitely be user configurable without a tazer. Idk why they think this is should be a non-configurable thing.

Doesn’t work with the doors off though. Tazer relies on the door sensor for this function. Super annoying. I keep my keys in my pocket and will sometimes hop out for whatever reason (running back in garage or whatever) and HONK, HONK, HONK! Blah

Bingo! Tazer has the feature, but doesn’t work doorless. Those damn honks are obnoxious.

I get the “key fob has left vehicle“ message, but no beeps. Is it configurable or a model year thing?

Are you doorless? What year is your Jeep? Don’t think this started until MY 22 or 23.
Running tube doors more often than not from March to October. Mine’s an ‘18. Could be a MY thing or a stick vs. auto thing. Either way, I’m fine with no beeps 😊.

I get it, but it is an annoying, worthless feature. In all my nearly 50 years of driving, I have survived without a nanny telling me where my keys are. It is even more annoying that there isn’t an option to shut her up (minus a tazer).
