Just ask @cosine he knows!
I have read a lot of posts on various forums about dealerships overfilling the oil on engines by at least a quart or more. Are they intentially trying to cause problems for the consumer to get them to come back and have their engines fixed by the dealership? That's my question....
I doubt the service depts are running out of things to do :(

I believe they are just ignorant and do not really care much about their job

Well, just got her back from the dealer today. Looks like front crank seal as well as timing cover gasket, both valve covers and the intake plenum gaskets. I'm sure intake plenum gaskets were just replaced as it was removed for access. So far all looks good.

Nope. Have to drain some. You'll notice 6qts pennzoil. I mentioned it to the service writer and the swore that they only filled with 5.5 which is still too much. I mentioned that the level was up on the wire of the dipstick and he insisted that it was fine. At that point I was just ready to get out of there and I'll just drain some tomorrow.

Crazy and probably a primary cause for that seal leak to begin with. I'm guessing you won't be letting them change your oil ever again, and TBH I'd just DIY the service.

So i did some searching but only found info on rear seal leaking, anyone ever seen a leak this bad on the front of the 3.6?

Could be the oil. 0w20 is really thin. My Honda has the issue from the first oil change. Every oil change it would leak even after they tried changing the seal.

So this isnt fixed and becoming a giant pain. First trip the dealer called me about 6 hours after it was dropped off saying it was ready. They then claimed that the oil I was seeing was from the top of the engine because the tech spilled oil during the last oil change. That was a month prior to the visit. I told him I thought he was wrong but picked it up anyways. No sooner than I got it home did I discover that lo and behold, still leaking. Took it back the next morning and dealer discovered front crank seal and made the repair I posted last week. This past saturday I discovered it leaking again, so it went back in monday. Leaking around timing cover this time. Picked it up yesterday and just found it leaking again. Thinking I am entering lemon law territory...

Hi WandererJL,
We regret to hear about your experience. Has a case been opened on the Customer Care side to add additional assistance while working with your dealer? If not, please send our team a private message and we would be happy to get this process started for you!

Damn, sorry to hear they can't get this handled, looks like they used plenty of RTV too, always good for a professional looking job!

Hope this gets fixed. I'm opposite of some of the posted advice. Vehicles under warranty, I always have the dealer do the oil change regardless of manufacturer. This helps prove good faith maintenance in the computer. Out of town when it breaks? Maintenance easily pulled up on the computer. How does one prove oil changes were completed at home? Receipt at Napa does not mean work was completed.

Avoid quick lube places for a variety of factors. Avoid Fram products. Fram does not "Meet or exceed OEM specification". I have Lemon Law'd a vehicle. There was zero questions about the maintenance.

Took similar pics this evening for mine. Curious if/what the final problem was found to be. Thx.

Ultimately they said they found a cracked valve cover, but it took seven trips to the dealership to get it square. I think the majority of the problem after the front crank seal was replaced was just problems getting the timing cover to seal, found a lot of RTV smeared all over trying to get it to stop bleeding.
