Wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but the amount that is there after wiping it all down underneath and driving it for 4 days, no way is it residual.I'd give it more time, like a week, before having it taken apart and going deeper. It's a long shot, but it's entirely possible there's some residual oil from the original leak somewhere still working its way out.
You're probably right, but you'd be surprised how much oil can hang around long after a job like that.Wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but the amount that is there after wiping it all down underneath and driving it for 4 days, no way is it residual.
Do you mean valve cover gasket?Sorry you are having to deal with this on a brand new vehicle. I had a similar oil leak when I brought home by brand new 2020 JL Rubicon. I took it back to the dealer and they replaced the head gasket. They said it sometimes gets nicked during installation. I was very disappointed to see oil in the same area immediately after the repair, but it did turn out to be remnant oil which they didn't wipe down and was slowly working it's way down the engine. It's been 3 years now and no issues since. I hope you eventually have a similar positive outcome.
Yes, you are correct. They replaced the valve cover gasket. It was leaking small drops of oil onto my garage floor the first week I brought it home, but fortunately when they replaced the valve cover gasket, the problem was resolved.Do you mean valve cover gasket?
The fluids are nearly indistinguishable. The transmission fluid isn’t red like it used to be.Update #6 - got a call yesterday that the leak is actually transmission oil/fluid but it sure looks like oil to me and after 2 trips to the first dealer... who knows. At this point they have no idea where the leak is coming from and are going to essentially tear apart the engine and transmission to try and find it. No idea how long they will have it or what the results will be. Won't hear anything until after the holidays I am sure. Sucks that the dealer techs have driven it almost as much as I have now.
