Is anyone here using an oil catch can on a JL with a Pentastar engine?

If you are,
  1. what brand of catch can are you using,
  2. where did you mount it, and
  3. how is it working for you?

FWIW, I reached out to a few companies like UPR & Mishimoto and neither have a plug-n-play offering for ours yet. I have had great luck with UPR on some of my other vehicles, especially my Hellcat. After I swapped blowers, they worked with me to get a plug-n-play kit setup on it. According to their tech, they believe our current generation Pentastar has an internal PCV. He stated that there are a few manufacturers doing this now. I sent him several pictures and that's what led him to think this was the case. He did go on to say that at some point he'd like to get a JL in the shop to really dissect their PCV system.

This was huge on anything Hemi but never saw a real thread for the 3.6.

Not sure if a catch can is needed on the 3.6, considering it is not direct injection.

I had a Moroso catch can on my D.I. Camaro which did catch an amazing amount of oil before it got sucked in over the dry intake valves, but haven't been in a hurry to get one installed on the JL.

Looks like UPR now has a Plug-N-Play Catch Can for the JL 3.6L ($150)

I would assume a catch can would be more necessary on a forced induction set up considering there would be more blowby. I did have a catch can on my Hemi and my SRT4 and noticed a lot of sludge each oil change. the SRT's catch can was collecting quite more than my Hemi. i haven't had my wrangler long enough to change the oil yet to see if i want that insurance.

I get stuff in the can with just regular driving.... glad that shit is not going back into my engine.

Every forum needs an oil catch can thread, and I'm happy to see ours is no exception. I'm surprised, however, that no one has voiced the opinion that they're a waste of money, especially for the 3.6. So, let me be the first. :)

The 3.6 has been around for ages. It's not DFI. There are no widespread reports of failures due to oil (more accurately, combustion byproducts) in the engine air induction system for JL or JK.

This I feel is a waste of money on Port injected engine.

Fuel will always coat the valves.... full synthetic oil and two bottles of Techron every 10,000 miles will keep your engine clean

Yep. And as long as you follow or do better than the scheduled maintenance, you’ll be fine.

Yes, but when you're on a steep obstacle for a sustained amount of time, oil builds in the rear of the valve cover and things get ugly. I think a catch can is worth it for this scenario.
