There seems to be no end to the ridiculousness of California.

Corn ain't gasoline, though I have heard hemp makes great fuel for cars. Since mary jane is legal in CA, why don't they start doing hemp fuel?! Business idea...you're welcome!

Ethanol free abundant around here and it's worth the extra expense.

You all know putting a higher octane than what's needed is a waste of $$$ unless you've modified the timing or have done something which increased the compression ratio?

Higher octane fuels do not give additional power, they are simply less prone to early combustion helping mitigate knock in a higher compression motor, which would rob it of power. :)

Yeah cost me almost $100 today to feel up my tiny 392 tank in Orange County. Thank God I don’t have kids and own my business, but even then it still hurts.

My engine is not knocking but ping, even with 91, therefore I can felt the ecu pulling timing, thus no power. I’m not saying higher octane makes more power, but at least help me get all 470 that stated.

You can make more power on corn when tuned properly due to higher octane and lower combustion temperature.
My EcoBoost 3.5L explorer realy wakes up on E30 corn mixture tune vs 93 octane (10%corn) tune.

My apologies. I wasn't thinking of the 392, which is a higher compression mill and requires 91+. I was only thinking of the 3.6 and 2.0.

How's your fuel economy (not that's the reason to get the 392)? If I had one, it would see WOT too many times for me to hear that glorious sound.

yeah, our cheap prices are $2.85. Up from $1.51 just a year ago.
And two years ago it was 2.90 and three years ago it was 3.40. Gas has always fluctuated.

Yeah, nope. It hasn't been over $2.25 here in the last 5 years. The vast majority of the time it's been under $2. Fluctuate, yes. 50-100% increase in a year, no.

Both bad enough and impressive. 10 mpg in town and 19 20 freeway road-trip.

Supposedly this is somewhere in Saratoga, CA. (image attached)

When I grew up, several of the local stations here in NC had 100 octane. I think there are still a few around local to me.

I run 87 in my 392…. But I live at 8000’. My dynamic compression ratio is around 8.5 in the 392. Probably will drop to 85 octane to get more power back…
