As soon as I saw the article, I was thinking "I wish it was bigger like the Defender". :)

Looks like LEGO already had this in the works when I posted the original thread. Here’s hoping they offer it in Sarge Green. 😁 (No offense to you if you are a Hella Yella Fella.)
You could do a couple of things if you want it Sarge Green...
  1. Go on Lego's website and purchase all the yellow pieces in green (there should be a list of all parts in the instructions that should be downloadable from Lego.com).
  2. Get this 'knock-off' version as it looks much better and comes in green (but you're on your own for as how well the bricks go or stay together).
  3. Search for 'Jeep Wrangler MOC' to see if anybody else has come up with their own creation. Places like ReBrickable.com offer instructions and a link to buy all the parts you need (could end up being more expensive, but a better model overall).

Before I decide to purchase this could someone comment on the reliability of the plastic pieces designed to mimic the dual batteries that comprise this toy's ESS system? ;)

Here is the 1980’s full size one. Yellow also. But now remember pieces and colors were much much more limited and look at the details they included.
Shovel. CB. It’s a stick. Fire extinguisher. Trail lights.

And here is 2 perfect examples of how much detail they could have accomplished. The Volvo has 8 motors. The crane 6. It extends to 3 feet all by motors. I feel these r 2 of the best represented pieces they can produce if they want. Even the excavator I front of the crane has more detail vs the Jeep piece. The Volvo is still my favorite technic they ever did

Where did you get the shelving. We have a lot of the same lego sets and have been looking for something to display them in.

I think Lego totally missed a huge opportunity with this model and could have easily come out with a more detailed Technic variant or even moved it over to the Creator Expert line and really brought out the details. Unfortunately I won't be adding this one to my current collection...

I use the Billy bookshelves from Ikea. Cheap and versatile! However, adding the optional glass doors and it certainly ups the price ($70/door), but it does keep a ton of dust off the Lego.

Shelves are ~11" deep and most of the Creator Expert buildings fit just fine. The Ideas Treehouse doesn't fit with all the branches attached, but take a few off and it'll squeeze in just fine.

I'm happy to send you some more detailed pics on the setup if you'd like?

I just figured it out.... the mistake that LEGO made was they actually contacted a Jeep Dealer and had them develop the kit. From what many people one here say, many Jeep dealers would not know the difference between a Jeep Wrangler and a golf cart.

I may have to pass on this set.
Legos are a lot of fun, see some of my sets that I have enjoyed building.

Recently picked up the Ecto 1, which is licensed for GM. So looking forward to building it.
I would like a Lego Wrangler of the same level of detail.
