Dale Jewett “the Hemi V8 is in our product lineup for the foreseeable future “ Road and Track today. Replacing all V8’ in all vehicles will take time.
And how much of the future does he "foresee"? 6 months? 12 months? 18? And what vehicles in the line up? HD pickups that are exempt from CAFE?

I'm betting that this new engine will be in a Gladiator, at the Easter Safari. Specifically to ward off the High Speed Raptors. AND IT WILL BE A J6.
For the 2 doors, Tunes for the 2.0T, and a manual would be Perfect. It makes financial sense for Stellantis to have only the 3.0 and 2.0 Turbos as they transition to EVs through new production, and retrofit EV kits, like the Magneto teased.
The first teaser had a hood bulge that appears to be on the drivers side, consistent with the T-6 turbo side?

“Foreseeable” was as specific as he got ( typical) How long it takes for R&D, retooling, government approvals, mfg. capacity, consumer acceptance, or maybe hoping us old Hemi lovers will die off is the definition of “Forseeable”

It's doable, if they use the manual from the challenger/charger line up. They'd be foolish to try to make the mediocre current wrangler manual survive behind 400hp, especially in vehicles that are under warranty.
Upgraded trans and clutch would be great. I'd seriously consider this, but I suspect the T6 will be automatic only, similar to how the current 392 and Bronco Raptor which is scheduled to come out are setup. So manual might only be for the 4cyl turbo, but better than nothing. If they can somehow offer the manual option on the T6, they'll have my order right away.

As awesome as this engine is going to be (hopefully), the big downside will be all that power and torque spitting out of an exhaust that'll sound like a fart can.

Marketing at work:

that delivers better fuel economy and fewer emissions than larger engines
Well of course it does!

How does the fuel economy and emissions compare to engines the same size?

  • Standard Output (SO): Optimized for fuel economy, including the use of cooled exhaust gas circulation (EGR), while delivering enhanced power and torque (more than 400 hp/450 lb.-ft. of torque)
  • High Output (HO): Optimized for great performance (more than 500 hp/475 lb.-ft.) while maintaining significant fuel economy during heavy use, such as towing.
The Hurricane twin-turbo flexes its muscle with a broad, flat torque band that sees the engine maintain at least 90% of peak torque from 2,350 rpm all the way to its red line.

The 3.0-liter Hurricane twin-turbo I-6 shares design features, including bore and stroke and cylinder spacing, with the globally produced turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4.

If it is truly similar to the 2.0, torque & HP should be delivered in a similar manner, with the torque curve being pretty flat (they claim 90% from 2350 RPM to redline).

So if a 2.0 is 295 lb ft * 1.5 = 442.5 lb-ft... that's pretty close to the S.O. 3.0's 450 lb-ft
And the 2.0 is 270 HP * 1.5 = 405 HP... also very close to the S.O. 3.0's 400 HP.

What's really interesting here is that the H.O. 3.0 has only a 25 lb-ft torque gain with a massive 100 HP gain. The slight torque bump is from the various hardware changes, but in order to get 100 more horsepower the H.O. must have a higher redline... like 1000 RPM higher.

If the oil filters in that location, don’t worry, I’m sure the engineers will figure out how to make it almost impossible to access. Just like they did on the current Ram 6.7 diesels. The filter was stupid easy to access then they decided to put a massive crossmember directly below it.
I shake my head every time I see alternators mounted at oil pan height... Comeon now..It’s a Jeep & that’s below water line.

Yep—the HO has lower compression so more boost and likely a different cam profile ( duration & overlap)

My 392 XR just became collectable, when is the 392 being dropped and replaced with this engine?

Depends on what their definition of “foreseeable future” is.

Do not forget that French are running Stellantis. First action they did was to get rid of SRT group. All the high horsepower cars we have have been planned years ago. They want to turn all the fca brands into all electric, so I think sooner rather than later.

Sooner than later…if you want a 392 Wrangler I’d snag it now! I’m pretty sure there will be a limited run of 20th Anniversary 392 Rubicons and then they’ll be gone.

Not only am I glad I already have one, I’m delighted it’s a 21 that doesn’t have the “ additional CA emissions requirements” making it even more rare here and other CARB states!!!! :like:
