Where are you finding that info? I did a search earlier and got a hit for Aisin transmission wiki page, but could find no mention of D478 in the wiki. The manual transmission is built by Aisin.
Well, the Rubi had its day in the sun first, with the New Zealand shots, so I understand why the Sahara gets to shine for the moment. No Rubicon photos?
Sahara has optional SelecTrac, which has a locking center differential. Not sure about front/rear. Perhaps front/rear also lock, but again -- not controlled at all by the user.... rather automatic based on what mode the transfer case is placed into.somethings not right. On i think it is page 14 of the cnet link thta great grape ape posted is picture of what I think is the Sahara package dash . The pict ures shows the 4 wheel drive mode and it sgows 3 LOCKERS front cent and rear and all are engaged. SO that is the select trac right? on the Sahara? with 3 lockers ? so that is not select Trac II or is it?
No, they widened the axle size on the Rubicon, unless you consider a D35 to be shrinking... I suppose you could say that though. Not sure as to specs of the D35... but either way, makes the Rubicon/Sahara more attractive. So they decreased the axel size on rear for the Sport?
I must be mistaken then. I thought JK sports had Dana 30 front and 44 rear? This is showing Dana 30 front and 35 rear. No, they widened the axle size on the Rubicon.
Yep, I was mistaken... thought you meant width when you said size. I am not sure what the spec of the Dana 35 is though (ring gear/axle tube diameter/shaft material/shaft diameter).I must be mistaken then. I thought JK sports had Dana 30 front and 44 rear? This is showing Dana 30 front and 35 rear.
