Howdy,

Second time poster, long time jeeper here. I have a new 2020 JL 2.0 Turbo (2 door) and am getting ready to start exploring a bit farther from home.

I was wondering what range (miles) you get off road on a tank of gas?

i always carry 6 gallons no matter what extra (3.6L JLUS). but most trips depend on the type of terrain your driving in. most of my long trips... death valley with up and down canyons i can avg. 14 mpg or so without issue. im pretty light footed though i im not one to bomb down desert roads at 50mph. slow and stead. Ive done the mojave trail 3 days wheeling with one tank is cutting it close close. i ended up adding the spare 3 gallons i have jsut for peace of mind. def doable though. 200-230 per 20ish gallons.

Drive white rim road In Canyonlands. Filled up in town. Drive the trail and back to town. 130 miles on 1/2 tank. Didn’t bring reserve fuel.

3.6 JLUS.

Depends on how much time you are in 4x4. Figure an extra 10% hit for 4H and a lot more than that for 4L time.

I’d tell you it depends. My rule of thumb is I don’t venture very far off road with less than a 1/2 tank.

This is all great information, @Maverick909 your information on the Mojave Trail is just what I am looking for as that is one of the trails I want to do.

Knowing that the 2 Door has a smaller tank, looks like I need to get some extra fuel containers.

If you are over landing take extra fuel. If you are rock crawling just start with a full tank. I’ve spent many days trail driving and rock crawling at high altitude in the Rockies and never used more than half a tank per day.
