They have become popular in the circle of people I hit the trails with. 5 or 6 of them now. They all seem to be doing well and certainly a lot of fun.

One guy had a couple issues that caused him a lot of hassles but don't think it was unique to being a Diesel but more a "built on a Friday before a long weekend" issue. They ended up replacing a bunch of the wiring harness assemblies and he's been happy since.

They respond really well to a bit more aggressive gearing.

8500 miles on my EcoDiesel. Three long trail rides, eastern Oklahoma, Lake City, Colorado, and a few trails in Utah. This is an awesome trail motor, actually it's awesome for anything under 60 mph. However everytime I go I'm loaded pretty heavy.

8500 miles on my JRURD. Perfect so far. 23 mpg on KO3 35's. Great performance off the line. Definitely worth the extra expense.

Going on 3 months and 4K miles on my 2021 Rubicon JLUD. No issues so far, wife drives it most of the time and loves it.

Another "X000 miles and no problems" here.

Also, if we are posting anecdotal evidence here, then my neighbor bought a Cherokee with the 3.2L Pentastar (similar to the 3.0L in the Wrangler) for his daughter. After 4 trips to the dealership with serious oil consumption issues, they replaced her entire engine under warranty.

So, in my experience, the Ecodiesel is 100% more reliable than the Pentastar! ;)

For those of you who do off-road do you have any exhaust smell complaints while crawling? I have read a few heated discussions on this.

Thank you

At a high idle I can smell the injection of the urea at times. But I have never been able to catch a whiff of anything due to a regen in progress.

no.

i've tried smelling the diesel while working it in the dirt, and can't smell a dang thing.

i think a lot of people just have it stuck in their heads that a diesel is supposed to smell and be noisy, in spite of the fact that the modern small turbo-diesels are neither.

Retired, live 6 months in Scottsdale, 6 months in Steamboat Springs, Co and the remaining 6 months on the road with Rubi and BoreasXT trailer.
Well, I'm in the camp as a previous post. Lost our Turbo Charger at 7100 miles. Had to limp home from 350 miles away praying not to go into the REAL limp mode
Dealer had to pull the cabin disconnect winch and light bar. Had to take out our underseat ARB air compressor. Took forever to get the parts. I can't imagine what we would have spent if out of warranty. I'm afraid to say it, but my little eco diesel will be someone else's problem about 100 miles before the end of the extended warranty.

17,000 miles, over 2000 of which have been off pavement on every surface worth wheeling/overlanding on. No issues. DEF use matches relative fuel economy at 22mpg lifted 2.5” with 117lb 37” pats on beadlock Borahs and 500 lbs of added mod weight. It has tolerated over 100 water crossings, several pushing 40” deep with none of the low-hanging electronics causing issues...granted everything under the rig has cerakote on it and the electrical connections are all silicone taped. Either way, thoroughly impressed with the gen3 3.0 so far.

Does the cerakote comes from factory, or is it something you got it done yourself?

HVLP application myself...I trailered it from the dealer to xpel application and then from there to my garage to spray the cerakote so it never touched the road other than factory QC and transport vehicle swaps.
