What is the finish like on those bars? I was close to purchasing yesterday, but a number of the pics I found showed the finish as significantly lighter than the steel bumpers.

Anybody running the JCR Offroad stuff? Had their bumper on my old XJ and loved it.
I agree with ct's 98% match to the factory steel bumper.

Another plus to the Maximus-3 bars is the optional frame reinforcement brackets that add a significant amount of strength. Without them, something like a deer strike would bend the bar back and the top surface of the bumper down. If bent enough, the bar would also damage the grill and beyond.

And no, I'm not earning commission on Maximus-3 sales. 😆 I just like quality and strength.

Good input. When I was in Maine I cared far more about Deer/Moose strikes. Now in SWFL, this might be good for pushing Lincoln Town Cars out of the way and ensuring Grandpa doesn't take out my grille coming out of Costco.

I agree with all this.

Trust me, I'm OCD as hell and if the finish between the bar and the bumper were noticeably different, I probably wouldn't have it.

I also have the optional frame reinforcement brackets and it adds significant strength and rigidity.

And I should be earning commission from M-3. Look how much of their stuff I have on my damn bumper. For good reason though, they make good stuff.

Looking at this new Maximus-3 one that is in testing.

While I'm obviously a M-3 fan, I have reservations about this one. Looks cool enough, but if you notice, the end of the hoop uses a bolt from the end cap. This either means you can't remove the end caps, or if you do the flange will hang over the edge of the bumper and won't be bolted to the bumper. Guess its not a problem if you never remove the caps.

They definitely make some great parts. I didn’t like having to recently remove their Stealth front plate bracket, but it was blocking the Warn fairlead backing plate that incorporates a spot for the license plate. It's at least still leaning rearward to not hang as low as it would if it was vertical.

After grabbing a screenshot for a previous post, I couldn't help but to double back and order the M3 filler panels for the winch, a front seat flashlight mount, and rear cargo flashlight mount.

This specific bar was mentioned in another thread recently. If the wings are removed, bushings that come with the Stinger are used to make up the difference at that bolt location.

I had the JCR Offroad Pre-runner first (the one that @Ct_Formula has in the above pic), but replaced it with the Maximus-3 JL SLP Hoop (the one that @Headbarcode has pictured above). As others have said, the Maximus-3 matches really well with the steel bumper.

The JCR pre-runner wasn't bad, but I did get a bit of surface rust around the weld seams, and it looked a little skinny/gangly compared to the stoutness of the Maximus-3.

I've had the Maximus-3 for about 2.5 years now, and the powder coating is still 100% intact and zero rust spots.

Thanks Todd, that's exactly the review I wanted to hear. I'm amazed that the manufactures think those skinny diameter bars look good when actually put on the OE bumper. Who is telling them "yeah lets put out a drink straw bumper hoop it looks great" 🤦‍♂️
