Odd thing happened yesterday

I pulled into my long driveway into my spot and realized the postal guy put wrong mail in my box so I put Wrangler in reverse and backed up and when I went to put it in drive I had no power at all and the D on the shifter was flashing. I played around with the shifter and it was back to normal again. Anyone experience this?

HUh ? I can drive my jeep without the seat belt , but not with the door open .

If the door was slightly ajar, it will not drive. Not sure if this is what you experienced. I have jumped in my JL to move it back a couple of feet and it won't move unless the door is completely shut. It does exactly what you described.

This has happened to me when the driver’s door isn’t shut when I put it into D from P

Yeah, the first time it happened to me a couple of weeks ago, I thought, "Oh no, here we go with all the issues I read about on here." Then I saw it is by design and it's actually smart. I know a couple that left their car in drive and got out with tragic results.

you went from reverse to drive too fast. You need to let the Jeep come to a full stop before you switch gears.

It was flashing cause the computer stopped you from messing up your transmission, it probably shifted to neutral.

If it’s like my Ram, it will do that if you shift into D without having your foot on the brake pedal enough to actuate the brake light switch.
