While escaping a dinosaur attack in the California desert with my 2-door JL (3.6L), I attempted to shift from 2H to 4H per the normal procedure with the transmission in Drive. However, while shifting, I unexpectedly shifted all the way into 4L! Luckily, I was only doing about 7-8 mph when this happened, but it shouldn't have occurred because the transmission must be in Neutral to shift from 4H to 4L.
After this happened, I stopped the vehicle, put the transmission into Neutral, shifted from 4L back to 4H, and then proceeded driving normally. Later, after returning to 2H, I attempted shifting to 4H and 4L again several more times, and everything worked normally. Not sure if others have experienced the same thing or if this is a normal occurrence at low speeds, but it definitely didn't feel or sound good. Worth having the dealer inspecting further? Thoughts?
