Not really a knife guy but saw this and just love vintage stuff, from what I can gather this particular Ka-Bar 1207 was made from the mid 60’s until the 80’s but not 100% sure, the knife upon looking at it closely was used rarely and has been sharpened at least a few times but is in overall great condition so just wanted to share

I have my Dad's that was USN issued to him in the Pacific Theater. Almost 80 years old. I purchased an aftermarket sheath for it as the leather has seen better days. It will be my Sons one of these days, and probably his Sons. Taken care of these knives will last a couple of centuries.

I am not a knife guy either per say - though, I do carry a pocket knife over the weekends for the pure utility of stuff around my house and garage. However, I also have my father's USN knife. He was a LT Commander and pilot of P5M-2 sea planes between Korea - Vietnam. I also have the composite / canvass sheath it has sat in since it was handed to me - though not sure it is original. Remarkable to see how design of these remains unchanged.

That is a beautiful knife! I think my dad has one from way back in the day. Not as pretty as your picture but damn he keeps it so sharp you can shave the hair right off your arm!
