ok, here is my question... i think i know the answer, but i gotta ask...

is it possible (via aftermarket i guess) to get an limited slip diff that is also a locker, providing the best of both worlds?

that would be like an aussie locker. Which is different from an LSD that could be locked. my question is specifically does anyone make an LSD diff that can be locked?

Not yet. Eaton has a LSD called the Detroit TrueTrac for the old D44 and D35 axles. But JL uses the new D44 axles and, as far as I’ve been able to find out, TrueTrac doesn’t fit.

I had a Detroit TrueTrac in the rear of my 2014 and 2015 Saharas; unlike most LSDs, TrueTrac doesn’t use any clutches; the thing was just indestructible and unstoppable. I am hoping that they develop a TrueTrac for these D44 axles.

Auburn ECTED is an LSD & locker. Don’t think they have it for JL yet, it does also use clutch packs.

Note: 2003-06 Rubicon’s rear Dana 44 had a gear-based LSD and locker. It was not known for reliability,

I can try to answer this simply..... I hope. If you have a base model sport, you don’t have lockers. You do have brake lock diffs.

if you are in 4WD and all 4 wheels are on the ground, all 4 are “pulling” as you say.

if one wheel is in the air, the BLD will put the brakes on for that wheel and as a result more power will go to the 3 wheels on the ground.

as A noob ( you and me), I can assure you that your Sport Jeep has MUCH more capability to get you down the trail and back than you have as the driver. Don’t worry about stuff like this. Instead, go take your jeep down some of the prettiest forest trails that you can find, build your skills, and your Jeep will be there coaching you all the way.
if you have Sport with all terrain wheels package then LSD was part of it unless FCA changed that

All terrain wheels? I can say this. It gets very good grip around town. You can hear the left rear tire gripping the road when turning. You know, like a lsd rear end. We were almost rear ended yesterday and when I saw it happening I stopped the gas pedal. The Jeep squatted and took off. Very little tire spin, and the road was wet.
I tried putting in my vin number but the website didn't recognize it.

can you take a straight picture of it with the flash? It doesn't look like LSD axle. Did your jeep come with all terrain tires or street? do they say AT?. They would either be Good Year wrangler Kevlar or bridgestone duelers.

Doesnt look like you have LSD which is ok. But that also means you don't have the D44, which kinda sucks depending on what you wanna do with it in the future. But no big deal really.

It's my understanding the Rubicon's have TrueTrac LSD front and rear, plus the lockers. That's what my 2020 lists on the window sticker. You can install LSD or lockers in your base model, it will be pricey and time consuming but it's doable.
I took my 88 YJ on some trails a few months ago...it had the trac-lok rear end but the front only one wheel would spin. It was very capable, but that's when I decided my next Jeep would be a Rubicon.

No. Rubicons don't have LSD You're probably confusing BLD with LSD.
