Not a fan of the new “premium” vinyl steering wheel

My 2021 Rubicon had a leather steering wheel.

My 2024 Willys (and, AFAIK, all JLs with premium steering wheels) came with a faux leather wrap that’s supposed to feel like leather but really doesn’t.

The new material is plenty soft but lacks any real grain. The old leather wheel wasn’t the best (both our Subaru and Mazda have nicer wheels) but this new stuff is too smooth, too slick, and doesn’t feel at all like leather. Definite downgrade.

C’mon man, they probably saved a couple bucks per wheel, mighta put off the next price increase for 12-16 minutes. Jeeez, lookit the bright side or quit complainin about price.

LOL I think I replied in that thread when my pink Jeep was on order and I still had my 2006. The 2006 had a leather steering wheel, the 2024 definitely does not. It's like a rubber or something. Not a problem, just not leather.

Then again, I have the heated steering wheel option. Maybe that makes a difference and is why it has to be rubber?

"Premium"... Less for more. It's a Jeep thing. A long-timer like you should be used to it by now.

BTW... The Ministry of Plenty has announced that the chocolate ration has been increased from 30 grams per week to 20 grams per week.

he doesnt seem too excited to me. I too wonder what animal produces "premium" since most animals produce leather.
