. . . I wanted to show what I’ve been working on.

I don’t consider mine a “build” since I’m not doing any crazy suspension mods or setting it up for rock crawling. I use my Jeep for general enjoyment (hence the sky one touch top) parking where my F250 doesn’t like to go (why I didn’t lift it) and hunting (lots of hunting).

I’ve seen the threads where the rock crawlers bash mudders and say it doesn’t take any skill to drive in the mud, etc. I would strongly disagree and encourage them to consider that off-road setups depend on where you off-road. In North Florida/South Georgia our number one encountered obstacle is mud. I don’t go looking for it, but come across all the time when in the woods after what I’m really looking for so I had to start with the right tire.

Tried the new Cooper Evolution MT first but it was a no go. Way to much vibration and strange “fishtailing” force. The Yokohama is legit and should serve me well. I put them on XD 140 recon wheels with a positive offset. I lurked on this forum for a long time asking several of you many questions and it seemed like the folks who had problems with 35s and no lift had a lot of negative offset and would catch the fenders, but those with a positive offset would “tuck” and be just fine. Guess I’ll know soon enough when I start to flex over some AG terraces. These don’t stick out near as far as what was on my JK.

I tried to do a little something different with the XDs and replaced the black bolts with stainless to add some contrast. I’ll probably also end up adding some red to the center caps to help it pop just a little. I think it turned out well and the five star pattern while common looks classically “Jeepy”.

Had to get rid of the plastic bumpers so I did Poison Spyder front and back. Here’s where my real “mods” are noticeable.

I’ve had 3 back surgeries so just throwing a deer in the back of a truck isn’t an option anymore but the Jeep helps me out with that now while going where my F250 won’t.

I added a cutdown atv fairlead to the top of the bullbar and a front receiver through the skid plate to attach a rack I fabbed up out of lightweight aluminum to help me load up and transport deer. I just run the rope over top through the atv fairlead and it takes all the weight of the deer. I just have to do a little guiding.

It keeps my guns up out of the way while leaving plenty of room for coolers, decoys, gear etc, while still having room for my two boys in the back seats. There is no better rig for turkey hunting. Quiet, compact, self contained killing machine.

After having a 1987 Wrangler (the first year was the worst year) it took a long time to come back to a Jeep. However, now after a 2010 and 2015 JK they just keep getting better and better. It’s amazing how the 2019 is light years ahead of the 2015. It’s great to have a capable machine that goes where I need it to go while fitting in the parking garage at work, being fun for the family and looking good at the same time.

now I just need some cool weather and some rutting bucks.

Someone had a question about the D-Rings.

Sorry, I think I deleted it somehow. They’re AMI styling billet. I don’t think they make the rounded ones anymore, but you can find them out there still if you do some searching.

Also had a question about lighting.

I used rigid diffused floods front and back. I hope to add the rigid 360s to the A-pillars this week, but figured I’d go ahead and post some pics while it was still clean. It’ll be muddy for months here pretty soon ;)

Love those bumpers, where did you end up purchasing them from?

I ended up using a local shop. They could actually get them cheaper than online and I like helping out a local business when I can.

The rear bumper is perfect width. I wish the front was tighter to the grille like Poison Spyder’s Brawler, but I wanted the recessed winch to get more angle for pulling the deer up so I went with the Bruizer.

Nothing a ratchet strap won’t do ;)

Actually the best way to transport him out of there to keep his heap from dragging the ground.
