Couple more vids from today. My friend Steve rode shot gun and I don't think myself, my son and him ever laughed so much on a trail. His commentary in the vids is a riot, I had asked the question if I was going to struggle on this one obstacle because I was stick and the guy said "Well it depends on how well you drive your stick." Which lead to Steve's comments.

Hello everybody,

My name is Nick, and my Wife and I are headed to the Triangle area from Denver CO. Although we have loved Denver, we want to be closer to family and we are moving to Cary. I look forward to all that NC has to offer, and meeting some of you all!

The Jeep is a sarge green JLU sport with rubicon takeoff suspension and wheels/tires. Also a recently purchased soft top for all the rapidly changing NC weather! We like doing anything outdoors and like moderate level offroading.

Ran a trail called Rattlesnake Gulch which was an incredible mix of trail and creek which takes you up to Toquerville Falls. Some pics for enjoyment.

Hi Nick! I just read this post and wanted to say welcome to North Carolina! Not sure if you've moved here yet. I'm originally From Tulsa, Oklahoma and have mostly lived in North Carolina since 77. We have mountain trails, forest trails and coastal off road vehicle beach access points. The Outer Banks are my favorite places to enjoy the beach. Plenty of uncrowded areas to enjoy. The attached picture is actually at Fort Fisher, but still not too many people out there even unless its prime fishing season.

Howdy fellas, posted here before but I just took delivery of my JLUR here in NC.

I've done the Uwharrie trails and the Fort Fisher drive on beach in my Cherokee.

I was looking up other good drive on beaches to go explore.

Ocracoke? Cape lookout? Any suggestions?

Shawn (@chevymitchell), Scott (@SG19JLUR), and I hit Dickey Bell yesterday post-rainfall. The original plan was to enter through the front side of Daniel then do the BOH trail but with the recent rainfall, Shawn made the right call to not go through Daniel. A gentleman, Don, with a JK Willy 6-speed came along as well.

Shawn got to 40 degrees on the descent:

Scott and I both got 35:

Unfortunately, at the last few hundred feet, Don flipped on his passenger side. Thanks to the experience and guidance of Shawn, Scott and I used our winches, snatch blocks to perform the recovery and get Don back on the road.

I have now managed to use every piece of recovery equipment I purchased in just four trips… and need to get some more!

The recovery took a bunch of people to accomplish safely. We had guys in each of the winch Jeeps holding the brake pedals, as well. The winch rolling the Jeep back over never really had a lot of weight on it. The parking brake was set and the Jeep was left in 2nd Gear to prevent any slipping of the rear as it came back upright. Once I hopped in and took it out of gear, we were able to winch it FWD and then back it all the way down to the road. All in all, it was good teamwork and no further damage occurred to Don's Jeep.

Shitty part was, not 30 minutes before this, we watched an old Land Rover get recovered in the same spot. Once his recovery was clear, we attempted the climb and Don rolled going the opposite direction the Land Rover was going.

Just not the day for a seemingly easy section of trail.
