The wheeling at the beach was super rough. Sway bars disconnected, aired down, 4lo. It was intense lol. Here's me on my largest obstacle.

Had a great time travelling in between Ashland, OR and Grants Pass, OR. Stopped by the Oregon Caves National Monument and did the tour there. That was really fun. Ended the trip with a night at Mattole Beach.

Installed front and rear LCA frame side skid plates. Man that was nowhere near as easy as they said it would be! Getting 190ftlbs on the front was near impossible even with 2 people. The passenger side rear was so tight against the tank that we had to unbolt the tank and shift it over with a big pry bar. I'm happy that's all over.

Going to help my friend install an OME 3" lift on his Cherokee on Saturday in Los Gatos if anyone is interested in joining!

Heading down to Los Padres National Forest for the first time. Got a reservation at a developed campground for the first night, but then planning on dispersed camping the second night.

Anyone got any good suggestions for a one-night destination?

Obviously Los Padres is gigantic - there are TWO Forest Service maps to cover the whole thing. So it's gonna take multiple trips to start having a feel for the place. But for this first trip, I'm coming from Silicon Valley, so a more northish destination is better.

danged nice of you to make the trip down to LG for that; that's a bit of a putt!

and if he's expecting to get 3" our of an OME Lift on an XJ, he may be in for a disappointment; i've done it twice and not gotten more than 2.

(and i've got a spare set of used Rubicon Express Upper and Lower adjustable flex Control Arms if he wants them. ;) )

Those are coordinates to my favorite place to stay in Los Padres Forest. I had a great time there.

Just bought my very first Jeep yesterday - brand new to Jeeps and overlanding/off-roading. In the Sacramento area and I'd love to get to know some people to show me the ropes & some easy trails to ride together or if there are any local meets I can swing by to get to know the lay of the land as it were.

Happy trails! 🧡

Congrats! Nice 2 door and color! Prairie city in Folsom is a good place to learn a little and have fun. It’s $5 to get in.

If you're down for a bit of a drive, there's some fun stuff at South Cow Mountain in Ukiah. You're not that far from the Mendocino National Forest either, which has a ton of nice and easy stuff.

Need opinions from yall.

I'm currently on 33s (32.8" in reality) with a 2" lift. Was considering moving to 35s (34.4" in reality). I'm looking at almost $2500 to support that though, and only getting 0.8" more ground clearance. I'm not sure if that's worth it. Can't go any larger than 35 without axle work or replacement on these base model micro axles. I'm starting to feel like $2.5k for 0.8" isn't worth it. What do you think?

I haven't been "unable" to do any of the trails that I want to, but I'm the only guy in the group regularly laying skids to the ground. I guess that's the point of them though.

Larger tires increase your contact patch, which increases traction, and increased air volume in the tire also lets you air down to lower pressures, or to the same pressure with higher confidence of not breaking a bead.

That said, every change is incremental, and has potential cascading consequences - and driver skill ultimately is everything. If you don't want to change; you're certainly justified in remaining on 33s.

Did you allow for selling your current wheels/tires, or if they're nearing end-of-life, you'd soon be plunking down coin for new tires anyways?

Wheels vary wildly in cost, too. If you want to go to 17x8.5, there are some pretty affordable options out there - 100 to 125 per rim.
