Unrelated, I learned (the hard way) that a trickle charger (1-2 amps) is bad for an AGM battery. 10a, minimum. Got that info directly from Enersys (makers of Odyssey and Northstar). There’s a thread on battery talk… long story short, I ruined a Northstar battery. They warrantied it, anyway. Great company.

Anyway, since you have to buy a new one I wouldn’t go smaller than the Noco-10.
It was a 2 AMP NOCO Genius2D. I’ve been using them for several years in two different vehicles with no issues -- until it died in under 7 months. Maybe under-hood heat caused its demise?

BTW: What do I look for to determine if I have an AGM Battery? Since my battery is OEM, and AGM batteries are more expensive than lead-acid batteries, I’m assuming I have the cheaper lead battery?

If you click on the “NOCO Store” an Amazon page opens. If you add an item from the NOCO Store you still get the same result: “Sold by Amazon.com Services LLC.” In a subsequent e-mail NOCO told me I should have bought it from NO.CO, their direct website.
Last year I had an issue with a NOCO 5, I purchased on Amazon. NOCO was quick to replace my problematic unit.

For anyone that purchases a NOCO product, be sure to go to https://no.co/customer/account/login/ and register the NOCO product the day you receive it..

In regard to any companies product offering regardless of where you buy it... Always always register the product with the manufacturer as soon as you purchase it.

IF the product were to be a counterfeit or not from a licensed reseller of the product, cetc., you will find out on day one when you try to register said product.... and you can then return that counterfeit, etc., product.

That's true, conditionally. I've used trickle chargers to good effect for many years with AGM motorcycle batteries. I've a new one on the bench right now, being maintained with a 1.25 amp Battery Tender until I make the time to install it in my Ural (which is a mini-operation in itself).

For automotive batteries, yes, go big(ger). ?
True, there are conditions. Even for a big automotive AGM they are okish so long as the battery is always charged and all it needs is maintaining. With Covid lockdown, I was hardly driving and these Jeeps have parasitic draw. I would not put a battery tender on a battery with less than 12.7v, personally. Been there and done that with a bad outcome.

I now use a 6 stage, 20a Odyssey charger and it’s been fantastic.

Factory batteries are AGM. Get a 10a charger/maintainer.

I don't think you have much to worry about, since the Genius is AGM-compatible. My belief is that the stock main battery is a sealed lead-acid design, and if you have an aux battery it's AGM.

I tried to register it but the NOCO website would not accept a 56KB PDF of the receipt, and thus, would not let me continue the process. Just more frustration with NOCO processes. I’m not sure why I ordered a NOCO replacement, accept, I have an empty Genius2D bracket already installed in the engine bay.

Uhhhh. It’s not a religion. Both batteries are AGM. Look at the label.

A religion? "Belief" just expresses that I'm presenting it as my recollection from memory, not as a fact -- I can't verify my belief because I don't have ready access to a stock JL battery at the moment.

As an aside, I use my NOCO jump starter a lot. I volunteer at the Mayo Clinic transporting patients around campus, and I sometimes jump dead batteries on vistors' cars. [AAA takes forever to arrive] I recently upgraded to a GB50 after my GB40 wasn't always powerful enough. Also, it helps a lot if you leave it connected for 30 seconds prior to use.

I ordered a NOCO Genius2D Trickle Charger from Amazon and installed it in the engine bay of my Ram less than 7 months ago. It died.

I had previously installed the same type of charger in the engine bay of my Rubicon 392. When I sold it 18 months later it was still working fine; so I didn’t hesitate to install a new one in the Ram.

NOCO offers a 3-year warranty, so I sent an e-mail to them and received the following response:

“Unfortunately we are not able to reimburse orders from other websites."

Has anybody else had problems with their NOCO Charger or NOCO’s Warranty?
This is good information in this thread and a good reminder for all of us. Thanks all for posting.

You're saying NOCO won't honor their warranty for a product that was shipped and sold by Amazon.com (and not a 3rd-party seller)?

Appreciate that info. Was planning on buying one of their jump starters, but I'll stay far away from whatever clown show bullshit they're trying to pull.

If it was a used product, your Amazon invoice would state "sold by Amazon Warehouse" and not "Amazon.com Services, LLC".

Their own damn website says that Amazon is an "authorized reseller", which any reasonable consumer should safely assume they'd honor a warranty from said resellers (sold by Amazon.com and not 3rd-party of course)..

@Rhinebeck01 whatcha laughing at today friend? Do you seriously think a company that recommends their customers buy from an "authorized reseller" shouldn't also honor their warranty if purchased from said reseller?

You do realize there is shipped and sold by Amazon and then "other seller's" .... Its the other sellers that you have to be worried about. they may not be authorized resellers.

And as I mentioned earlier in this thread.. Daaaah, register your new purchase with the manufacturer and you will not have issues like the OP.

That's why I was asking OP for clarification that his order indeed stated "Sold by Amazon.com Services, LLC" which is Amazon.com - and not a 3rd-party reseller via Amazon.

If it's a 3rd-party reseller, then I completely understand why they wouldn't honor a warranty, otherwise, if it's "sold by Amazon.com" (not Warehouse and not 3rd-party) then it's complete bullshit and you know it.

Misinformation indeed. And while I'm not suggesting consumers avoid registering their products, US law generally forbids a manufacturer from requiring it in order to honor their own warranty.
