Got the Hullavators mounted this weekend and took it for a test drive. LOTS of wind noise. Pulled the bars off and put the weather stripping pieces in all the places with the exposed slide rail and pretty much no more whistle now. Might get some weather stripping to go in the gap under the mounting bracket.

I’m still waiting on my RTT but that is my biggest question, wind noise and drag. Hoping it’s acceptable

Update!

The GFC showed up yesterday! I was able to get it mounted last night and snap a few pics before the sun went down. Seems super sturdy on the mounts, and I’ve got no perceivable new wind noise! I’m stoked at how it turned out

I washed my Jeep the day after I installed the Backbone and didn’t see any leaks but I probably should have been more thorough before mounting the tent

The plan for now is the dogs sleep in the Jeep. They’re 10 and 14 years old and weigh 35-50lbs. The trip up and down the ladder doesn’t sound enjoyable for anyone involved and it would be a tight fit.

We did find some screens to fit the back doors that we plan on using to keep fresh air circulating through the Jeep. Hopefully this is our solution.
