Anyone else seeing this at their local dealer? Ours hasn't had any new Wrangler inventory for almost a month now. Drove past the Belvidere Assembly Plant(Cherokee) here in Illinois a couple times this week and the employee parking lot was empty both times. Has the chip shortage shut down Jeep production completely?

I like to stop by the dealer every week or so to look at the new Jeeps, but there's been nothing new for some time now.

Best,
-Tim

Last I heard Jeep was only producing vehicles with sold orders, not to sit on dealer lots bought by the dealer.

Belvidere has laid off half their workers and is down to one shift (when the line is actually up and running.)

Cherokee is not a chip priority

Don't know a 100% what's going on, just that every MFG out there is having issues, but neither of our 2 local CDJR dealerships has had any Wranglers in over 2 months. The Ford dealership had 12 cars on the lot the last time I went by there (About a week ago) It's every where.

Not my dealer. Every Wrangler, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee and Ram has a big fat markup, so they have a decent supply of them sitting on the lot.

What I don’t understand is who are these buyers supposedly paying above sticker. Judging by the amount of vehicles in stock, clearly there aren’t many of them.

By contrast, the Toyota, Honda and Subaru lots are completely bare.

The Subaru lot a couple days ago.

The Jeep dealer has plenty of Wranglers, Gladiators, Grand Cherokees and Rams, all with big, fat markups

They are funneling chips and production to core products - Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Ram. Production is for sold and stock orders. Plants are on a limited schedule based on those priorities.

Lots of complaints about markups. When inventories are normal, do you pay MSRP, or ask for a discount? It's supply and demand.

Now you’ll just have to stop by and settle for oogling the cute female receptionist like a real creeper. Or maybe other dudes if that’s your thing.

Using “supply and demand” as a justification, while true, is neither here nor there.

It is like saying “rain is wet.” While that is a true statement, normal people still hate getting soaked.

Understood, but this is the other side of the coin.

Their sign says "Where smart buyers save". I guess the not smart buyers are the ones getting soaked:)

Brought my '19 in for service. Decided to walk the lot. Not a single new Wrangler or Gladiator. One used white 4Xe. That was it.
