The update is pretty sad at this point. The case manager calls about once a week promising me an updated then nothing happens. I / we are taking other action to get this moving. Once it is all completed I will write up what happened and what the current status is. Overall this is just the worst customer service and company experience. I can't put into words how disappointed I am. I hope no one else has to go through this. I just got done reading the TSB release on the "GOOD ENOUGH WELD GUIDE" in the other forum. We will see.... Everyones support has been fantastic and as always its the community that makes this great.

Waste of time. Every vehicle has surface rust on the underside some worse than others but normal!
Just a bunch of trolls.

No one should expect good welds.

Check these pics out. Total fail on welds. Jeep will not let me get in it at this point and cannot put it on a traditional lift as the front end would drop out. Chrysler coming to investigate?

You are very thorough and helpful for all the JL owners . Hopefully the NHTSA will pay attention to your important alert .[/QUOT
Spoke to a higher up at the NHTSA today. He said that we can accelerate the frame welds investigation process by sending in a petition. Not the petition type with signatures but one that is simply and official request for investigation. Below is the letter I'm sending less my signature. Feel free to use this if you like. The guy from NHTSA stated that the more of these they receive the better. This would go for anytime we want a quick investigation.

Send to
US Department of Transportation
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
Office of Defect Investigation (NVS-210)
1200 New Jersey Ave SE
West Building
Washington DC 20590
same boat - thanks for shining a light on this.

I will send a note once I receive a response on my issue - see my recent post. Unbelievable - all terrain vehicles yah right

Wow, did you wheel your Jeep at all, or is this just from street driving?

What inspection do you recommend for buyers before buying ?

Not sure. Looks like welds are not penetrating. The unsuspecting consumer would have no idea. If the dealer allows you to bring in an independent expert prior to purchasing than that is the path. I will not drive another one until that happens...
