Not sure. Looks like welds are not penetrating. The unsuspecting consumer would have no idea. If the dealer allows you to bring in an independent expert prior to purchasing than that is the path. I will not drive another one until that happens...

Check these pics out. Total fail on welds. Jeep will not let me get in it at this point and cannot put it on a traditional lift as the front end would drop out. Chrysler coming to investigate?

What inspection do you recommend for buyers before buying ?

I was hoping to bring a welder to inspect my Jeep when it arrives. The problem is finding a welder that will do an on site inspection. I am going to ask an auto body person if they are qualified and willing. If my dealer doesn’t allow then I won’t accept delivery.

You’re not alone in this. Mine failed at around 1300 miles.

Also call Mike Manley , CEO ; and NHTSA ; and the auto or american manufacturers association .

Check out the very first complaint. It’s by a welder sent to the Tower company who makes the frames for Jeep. They were sent to reweld the frames. The person stated they would never drive or want anyone else to drive one of these new Jeeps. Sounds like a whistle blower.

SENT TO TOWER IN PLYMOUTH MI TO WELD JEEP FRAMES THAT ROBOT WAS NOT WELDING CORRECTLY. TOLD TO JUST COVER THEM UP AND THEY WILL JUST PAINT FRAMES. TOLD THEY HAVE TO MEET THEIR PRODUCTION NUMBERS. I WOULD NOT DRIVE OR WANT ANYONE ELSE TO DRIVE ONE OF THESE.

If buying iwoukd make the dealer put it on alift for inspection by you and whoever you bring with you. Hopefully you or whoever you bring knows welding. Ive been welding for years, chopped motorcycles. I am still planning on bring a second certified welder orcertified welding instructor when i pick my2019 up. Not going through what i did with my 2018.
