Getting ready to order my first Jeep, a Sahara 4xe, but don't want 20" wheels. Rubicon 4xe comes with 17" wheels but feels like overkill for NJ.

There are some nice Craigslist finds in my area at the moment and thought I'd ask you guys for some help.

The poll has 5 choices:

1) Nitto Ridge Grappler - 34x11.5x17 - will these fit without a lift?
2) BFG K02s - 285 70R17 (33") - standard Rubicon tire
3) Falken Wildpeak AT3W - 285 70R17 (33")- how do people feel about there relative to K02s?
4) Goodyear Wrangler Kevlar A/T - 255 70R18 - is there any reason to stick with 32s which pretty closely match the stock 275 55R20
5) Keep the stock wheels and tires.

34s and 33s are same price, or can save a bit on the 32s. Thanks in advance. Some pictures below to help:

Keep your eyes open for Rubicon take-offs on the site, can be found in the $1200 range, sometimes less.
Another size to consider~285/75/17, a couple threads on that size in the tire folder.

Thanks for the note. The Falken Wildpeaks are listed for $1600 and the K02s on upgraded Rubicon rims are listed for $1700. Prices are unfortunately a little high in my area (probably since not as many people in NJ are upgrading to 35s and 37s) but maybe I can negotiate a little or keep my eye out for something a little less expensive.

Yeah, the prices have been high on these for sure. I waited and finally got a mint low-mileage set last summer for $1300; had to ride out to Stewartsville to pick them up. If it's a daily driver, you'll probably want the KO2s as they're an A/T tire. A lot of the Wildpeak takeoffs I found on CL were M/Ts when I was looking. Personally, I'm very happy with the KO2s. They were excellent off-road when I took it out to Rausch Creek and they're great on my local 10-mile commute to work. They are also pretty quiet on the highway as well; quieter than the stock 245/75 Bridgestone Dueler A/Ts for sure.

Generally, I'd suggest the largest diameter tire, but in this case the Ridge Grappler is 65Lbs while the KO2 is 51Lbs. I've had some experience with the KO2's and they are an excellent tire for mostly road use.

+1 for looking for Rubi take-offs. I may have some available depending upon which wheel style is installed on my Rubi when it arrives. Perhaps it would be worthwhile trucking them to NJ?

Anything higher then $1k for rubi takeoffs is overpriced, even if low miladge. Offset is still horrible on those and they are bland cookie cutters - one of the reason why they are being sold.

34 does fit without lift if you are same height as stock Sahara. Will rub just a bit at full flext if you are offroading (-15 offset). You also need to think about tire load range - E load being one of the stiffest -less comfy ride.
Also what offset are the wheels /how do you want it to look as end result?

Mine on 34", $2,200 set (wheels, tires, sensors) picked up for $900 with 5k mi on them.

Thanks all.
A lot of the Wildpeak takeoffs I found on CL were M/Ts when I was looking.
The Wildpeaks are the All Terrain AT3Ws which seem to get good reviews - any thoughts on those?

I like those Wildpeak wheels a little better, but this is a daily driver so wondering if the ride is as good as the K02s.

Thinking I'll probably narrow it down to those two - hadn't considered the weight of the 34s and much prefer the look of 33s to 32s.

Might post a WTB (Want To Buy) thread in the classifieds here, sometimes someone nearby might have exactly what you want and that ad motivates them to dust them off and ship them out :)

Just wanted to thank those that responded - I ended up with a set of 33" K02s (285/70R17) on Moab/Willys wheels for $1250. Looks and rides great.

Got lucky. After lots of Craigslist / eBay searching and missing out on a local set of Willys takeoffs (for the wheels) I started calling around and found a Jeep shop ("The JP Shop") in Chester Springs, PA not too far from where I was buying my Jeep. They had a set of Moab takeoffs and a set of Rubicon takeoffs, and agreed to put the Rubicon tires on the Moab wheels for me. Drove there right from the dealership and they installed for me. Really happy with the look of the wheels and ride of the K02s.
