New Uconnect Uodate July 19, 2020

I just looked up my vin on the website and it says there is an update available. I have a 8.4 on a 2018 JLUR. Only 1 update since i bought it, done at the dealership and it killed the radio. That one was replaced and the update was applied.
I do have some of the symptoms listed.

I started to download the file but it was > 9 GB...I'll have to wait until after work when I can close my VPN tunnel...

I'm downloading it right now as well. I updated myself last August by USB key. And I'm not certain that this is actually a new update. I'll compare it to what I have when I unzip it.

This is actually an old update, my 2018 came with this version when I bought it from the dealership new.

First problem with our Jeep in 15k miles - the head unit keeps crashing and restarting when I plug my phone into the dash or console ports. The version is 18.33.24

Does this sound like an update thing, or something the dealer is going to have to deal with?

I'm downloading it right now as well. I updated myself last August by USB key. And I'm not certain that this is actually a new update. I'll compare it to what I have when I unzip it.

When you have a chance can you get a picture of the software version screen from the service menu?

I haven’t done it yet, but this popped up when I got to Costco a few days ago.

The update that I downloaded from the Uconnect website was SUPER old. It was from March of 2018. There have been several improvements to the system since then.

Frustrating for sure. Mine is at least 18 months old, no updates yet.

Has anyone who has recently received an OTA update been able to check/confirm what their version is now?

I will say, my Uconnect feels a lot faster and way more “snappy”. Zero lag when going from menu to menu and CarPlay to Uconnect. It barely had lag before. But now it’s instant.

Question for y’all. I’ve been watching this thread (and others) and I’m on version 18.33. It appears some people are on versions as high as 28.x.

My question is - what are the key phrases we need to tell the dealer to get them run the update?
