Just recently had my 2018 Ocean Blue Build

Im definitely floored by the cost and just wonder if I was taken advantage of......
Essentially the total hours for all the work was 124 hours x $110/hr
Additionally there was 2K miscellaneous charges for small things that all added up
and $6500 in paint charges= Total charges 23K

*Note: I purchased all parts needed for customization before hand

The painting compromised of powder coating: $3800
Front & Rear Bumper
Nerf Step up
Tube Doors
Inner Fenders Front & Rear
Miscellaneous small pieces you will see around jeep like tube door emblems, dashboard, front headlight grooves etc...

Regular Paint- $2,000 for hard top
I had to buy hard top from Quadratec
800 for hood and few small pieces

Now he was some of the work done:

Electrical
Colored Headlights
Rock lights
Subwoofer installed back
S panel
Cube lights
Floor lights under foot rests front seats
Rear Tire lights

Customized Work

Borla Cat Muffler
Remove Hood, Bumpers F& R, Remove all Fenders
Remove Soft top
Install Hard Top
Put together and install Tube Doors
Install all inner Fenders
Install Hood
Install all Fenders
Install Nfab step up
Alignment
Install all tires, rims, mount & balance
Removed factor speakers-----Installed all new kicker speakers 3" & 4"
Removed dash to paint red
REmove factor tire carrier---install Evo Tire Carrier
Assemble and install winch
Install 3.5" Teraflex Lift kit and stability arm

There are some more items like issues that they had with the DV8 fenders that were not manufactured best for JL
They had issues with freedom panels and some issues with wiring

Didnt actually get estimate beforehand

This Jeep place in S Florida is actually pretty credible, the owner good guy, but Im just wondering if I didn't have real expectations about this build

I spent about 15K in all the parts, tires, rims, etc.....Everything on the jeep basically.

Im really considering selling it in a month or two just to hope I get my money back and then redo with another idea I had
for a Jeep

Any suggestions? Opinions on all this? Just kinda looking for something to either ease my mind or get rid of this empty feeling on writing such a big check and spending all this money.

I will say this-- This Jeep absolutely turns head all over the place kinda cool. Had it one day and people beeping, taking pics, rolling down window saying Awesome jeep

Thanks for any input

I never expect to get money back for most to a vehicle. Cars, trucks or motorcycles. Maybe help sell it quicker, but never to recoup my cost of them and for sure not to make money.

My MO is to remove mods and return to stock as much as possible before selling/trading a vehicle and sell the mods separately. If I think it's worth my time.

So.... you paid 38K in addition to the cost of the Jeep?

I am afraid there is nothing, from my view, that I can say nice about this Jeep. Therefore, momma told me to say nothing. And, that’s good advice.

well one thing I know is better hang on to it now. You will not get any of that money back out. if you want a new project I would put back to stock and then repaint the stuff you want on the new ride. I figure about $.15 to the dollar is about all you get when selling a modded vehicle.

Actually, I think there are people who will buy this, you won't lose $ with a certain buyer.
Drive and enjoy, you'll get offers, don't second guess , be seen !

I won't comment on the jeep but will state you got completely ripped off and the "nice guy" at the jeep shop is not a nice guy.....

I think that maybe the color scheme was inspired by this Smash Up Derby set. Does anyone remember this toy? It was awesome. :CWL:

Looks like they did a poor job matching the Ocean Blue, unless the bumpers, tube doors, fenders, etc. weren't supposed to match the body. Unless that's just the lighting.

As was stated earlier, mods don't hold their value on resale. "Unique" customizations such as this, can be a challenge finding a buyer, also.

I think you overpaid, considering there's so much you could have done yourself provided you had the time, resources, capabilities, etc.

I know you're not here for the opinion... And I'm big into bright, look-at-me colors...but it's very... busy. Kinda like Spider-Man playing for the Seahawks with DV8 patches plastered all over his uniform. Hopefully you'll see the intended humor there ;). This, from a guy with a blue M3 with a red interior.

Whatever your decision, as long as you like it, that's all the matter. You should see what's been said about the angry-eyes grille community.

I'm certain you can find a buyer, but expecting to get any more than 50% of your $38k investment back on what is basically a stock, entry level Jeep is asking a lot.
I would normally suggest parting out some of the aftermarket stuff, but every piece is pretty specific to your vision.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do..
