so I finally got around to installing the MBRP JL exhaust system I picked up for under $200 during a black Friday sale. It was simple to install and I’m really pleased with the sound. It has a nice quiet deeper tone that has zero drone cruising on the highway. It’s tucked up tightly, out of sight, and away from the rocks.

Well I’m going to be honest. I didn’t grab a sound clip and after a week with the exhaust I put the stock back on. I really liked the MBRP but it was just a bit too annoying for it being brand new and so nice stock. I’ll eventually put it back in considering it takes about 15-20 mins to swap it out.

I don't know the specifics about too many of these aftermarket exhausts being sold but I assume that most of them use straight thru mufflers. I'm not sure what people expect to get from a sound clip over the internet. Any straight thru muffler is going to be loud and I doubt any one brand will sound much different from the other. If I were to buy one I would pick the cheapest one that was made out of the material I wanted with the look I liked best. Also IMO 400 series stainless is a joke save your money and just buy steel or spend more and get 300 series stainless that actually doesn't rust.

Exactly my thoughts. It’s a straight thru muffler and I bought the MBRP steel setup for under $200 because I knew it will get torn up in the rocks.

Hate to necro an old thread but to answer the question, the MBRP installed on the 2.0T does not make the Jeep sound like a Hellcat. It sounds less like a Kirby vacuum cleaner and more like an Electrolux. Or a Singer sowing machine.

What it DOES do is it gets the muffler out of the rock dragging backside of the Jeep and up within the frame rails. It also does the same with the tail pipe. Instead of crushing it and having to carry a pipe expander to get home, it puts it out of the way. Lastly, it puts the tailpipe on the driver’s side. That might seem like a “no biggie” but think about what corner on the rear tends to get damaged the most…..🤓
