New Lift - drive shaft broke - need your opinion please

Y’all, I need your expert opinion on how to handle this situation.

I bought the 2.5” game changer from MetalCloak, went into a shop in Dallas on Tuesday to have it installed, today as I’m driving 20 miles from home, I was probably 18 miles into my trip when I took the exit I put the car in 4H, it’s been raining a lot and the back kicked out.

I reversed into the parking spot and immediately heard grinding and a clank!

I checked a few forums here and tugged on various newly installed parts, and finally got under the car and saw the front drive shaft was free at the middle of the vehicle.

Whatcould I have done wrong, reversed in 4H? Going too fast in 4H?
Could MC have sent me a short drive shaft ? Could the garage have been negligent ?

if it’s not my fault, how should I deal with the shop and or MC?

My current setup is
2019 wrangler JL unlimited sport s
2.5” MetalCloak with front drive shaft
18” Weld off road
35” tires


Also my other cars are m5 and XL Denali, when something is wrong I drive them to the dealer.
I never work on cars except for this wrangler I bought 4 months ago.
I recently did some wiring, keyless entry.
I don’t know much about cars at all, I had to look up what a driveshaft, your help is really appreciated!

Looks like the shop did not tighten the nut or did not install the nut that holds the yolk in. JMHO.

Your drive shaft isn't broken. The yoke pulled out of your transfer case because the shop didn't install it correctly. Definitely not on metal cloak.

They forgot the nut or forgot to tighten the nut on the flange.

Ask him how a short drive shaft could have made a properly tightened nut fall off. And also I would confirm the driveshaft is the correct one or not.

MC sends out thousands of driveshafts, what’s the chances they sent one to short…. It’s the same size shock travel for both 2.5 and 3.5” lifts .

A short DS will split at the slide not at the transfer case. The shop F'd up.

Ask him why he installed it if it was the wrong size.

Take it out of 4, bungie the DS away from the transfer case. You should be fine.
